I mentioned last week when the Martin/Williams rumor was swirling I would rather take 2 proven, playoff tested depth guys (Clifford/Nolan/Lewis) over Williams. Obviously the Pearson/Toffoli injuries have negated any deal there but I still believe there is/are trades out there.
A team in contention (and so many still are) is not going to sell off pieces, obviously, so what about starting with ARI and BUF?
Harrington/4th rounder to ARI for Moss/Chipchura?
Same to BUF for Flynn/Mitchell? - stowerkraut
Adding Moss and Chipchura would go a LONG way.
Chipchura > Adams

You don't trade a blue chip prospect for 3rd and 4th line fillers. |

Agree, but Moss could be had for a 5th or 6th rounder.
Chipchura may cost a little more, but not much. |

Take St. Louis, Kreider, Zuccarello, and McDonagh out of the Rangers lineup, and how well are they doing right now?? - cap1681
Well we had Mcdonagh, Girardi, Klein, Dan Boyle, John Moore, and Stepan all out at the same time earlier this year and we did alright.
It would be tough if all those forwards were out but I think we'd have better players to plug in from the minors than sill or Adams. If those 3 forwards were out, our top 12 would look like
Nash - Brassard - Hagelin
Miller - Stepan - stempniak
Fast - Hayes - hrivik
malone - Moore - glass |

No, you don't, but I do think Chipchurra could help. If you let him center the 4th line, move Sutter to the wing and let Goc center the 3rd line, your depth looks much better. |

Partly, sure, but that's a big part of what Jim Rutherford was tasked with, and he's done a reasonably good job for only having half a year to do it.
Their defensive depth is good, but they still need another mid-range center or winger to balance the line-up.
They'll make another deal soon enough, but I think JR wants to see what the team looks like healthy before he makes the same sort of mistake Shero did and overpays for a luxury. - BINGO!
It is also pre-ASG in January. From the get go we've heard that Johnson will tinker with the line up and what he has available. I will say this... I hope he is just "slow playing" and "not showing his hand". We've seen him out coached in a few games now, as well as, an inability to motivate his players for a "big" game. The real season truly starts in April and all we can do is wait and see.
Sure is fun to BS about it tho... |

?? Bc we don't need stamkos or weber....
Jagr and tlusty are realistic options... just bc your team sucks doesn't mean you get to bring your negativity in here... - nh4442
Then tell me how you make the cap space for Jagr. I'm all ears. Because I thought we covered that weeks ago. |

But we have 10 of them!!!!! And ZERO of the latter!!!!!
Drafting/Signing/Finding 3 or 4 bottom 6 forwards with a cap hit of 1-2 million per, that play like 4 million per guys, is what the last 5 cup winning teams have excelled at..... |

We have 2 blue chip defensive prospects, and 1 that's just below blue chip. I would be willing to trade one of those guys, but not for rental bottom 6 players. That's a waste of an asset. |

What if that bottom-6 player was the difference between winning the Cup and bowing out in Round 2? |

Chipchura is one year in to a multi year deal. Agree to disagree. To me not using them to improve your team now is the waste. |

That would be the greatest bottom 6 player of all time, being able to single handedly win 3 series for the team. Why would any team trade a guy like that, as they would already be in the playoff picture?? |

Sorry, he's a UFA after next season. Still, guys like that, if available, don't take high end prospects to get, and it would be bad asset management. like i said, after looking at his stats, should only cost a 7th rounder. Chipchura would maybe cost a middle tier prospect and a 4 or 5th round pick at MOST. |

Not by himself. But guys like Bolland and Shawn Thornton were bottom-6 guys who played huge roles in their teams' most recent Cups. But the addition of guys like them is what allows you to succeed in the playoffs. So if you think you have a need for a good bottom-6 guy who can chip in some scoring in tight-knit games, you want want to go for him as those are the kinds of players who help you win over 4 rounds. |

In 2025, Scott f'n Harrington will be the greatest defenseman that's ever lived! We would be idiots to trade him.
So good... Burger King will put his face on pucks and give them away in happy meals.
Now if he could just crack the lineup. |
