To me it isn't the worst thing to play it out this season with Zucc, and just let him walk in free agency. Go for the cup, he gives us the best chance.

I think that's what they'll do

Bringing a new angle to the Zucc discussion, and yes this is an incredibly nerdy angle:

Zucc is from Norway where everyone is equal regardless of their profession and they care more about their happiness than their wealth. Perhaps this plays into him taking a 3.5-4 mil/year type contract. Just a thought.

Here's another angle:

Zucc and Hags are best friends. They do EVERYTHING together. There is no way they haven't discussed the exact same thing we have been discussing since day 1 of the off-season. Maybe they're both looking for a way to make it work.

They are best friends, but at the same time Zucc knows this is his time to get paid cause someone will on the open market. Why I won't hold any grudge if he leaves for more elsewhere.

Wow, just read Yahoo Puck Daddy's article about Staal's extension. Talk about twisting numbers to suit your argument. He compares Staal's contract and play to Weber's and Suter's and Giordano's then says things like how can Staal be the 15th highest paid Dman, like he received some kind of elite contract... What a toolbox lol. Staal is the 17th highest, and his contract is among a totally different tier of contracts!! 12 - 33 is between 5-6M, thats 20 dmen in this 2nd tier range contracts. Plus, he completely ignores the fact that Staal has signed a "today" contract based on NHL revenue today through 2021...you can't compare contracts signed years ago. He says Girardi and Staal who eat up the most minutes on D are overpaid, But Oh but Corsi and Possession numbers....how about the straight fact that the Rangers have the 2nd lowest GA in the league??

I agree with your premise, no way Zucc should be traded. But lets say no cup, Zucc walks and we find out after the fact Zucc would have signed a fair deal in the middle of the season and Sather didn't even offer one. That would really piss me off.

Similar to Stralman...from all the hard feelings, its obvious Stralman would've taken less to stay in NY. Boyle is not a bad signing, but TBH I would've still preferred to keep Stralman at a lower Cap Hit than Boyle and signed to longer term.

But then Stralman long term most likely would have meant no Staal long term. I am more then happy with how things played out.

Very few players stay Rangers for life. There is a possibility Kreider is moved at some point. Man that day is gonna suck.

I think with Stralman it was the length, and knowing how Staal was up for a contract. I wanted Stralman back, but not at the expense of Staal.

Yup, nature of the business. I never ever thought Leetch would have ended his career somewhere else.

I think they were all in on Dan Boyle, they were on a mission to improve the powerplay after how bad it was in the playoffs. I don't think they wanted to pay Stralman any more than Klein makes

Yea I agree, and Boyle was all in on the Rangers. Pretty funny he wasn't even in the United States on free agent day. He was following his favorite band around Europe. Just told his agent to get it done with the Rangers haha

You mean his 5 assists in the playoffs didn't dazzle the Rangers management?

you know there were times in the playoffs last year where I definitely saw Klein jumping in offensively like he has done this season, I was thinking about that the other day

Yup, I remember that too, and thinking at the time, holy crap, he has been great defensively but where did this come from.

The New York Rangers are targeting a bottom-six forward, one who preferably could play both center and slide over to the wing, and obviously help in the faceoff department (the club is 29th in the NHL in faceoff win percentage at 46.3 percent).

The Blueshirts could even add a depth blueliner if the price is right, but the No. 1 objective is finding that bottom-six forward.

What LeBrun wrote is what has been speculated and we have discussed a while. Why names like Vermette and Sekera have come up.

I will post the Norwegian paper's speculation on Bozak in my next blog, but why would Toronto do it? They don't seem sold as Kadri as a top center and this would leave them without their #1 pivot man. If Zucc walks, they are screwed, unless the Rangers part with a lot more than Zucc. Plus, if you are playing Brassard 5 mil and Stepan will get close to 6, can you pay a third line center 4.2 mil per for five years?

I understand everyone is worried or concerned about the Zuccs situation but moving him at the deadline I really feel would be horrible in that dressing room. A lot of this teams success if you want to believe it or not is how closely they are to one another. Zuccs is very well liked in that lockerroom and I really think that just because he isn't producigf like he did last season doesn't mean he isn't going to stay here. I think they will find a common ground where zuccs will get the security he wants in years and we will get $ amount that we want. I could very well see a deal where Zuccs gets 3.5 million for 5 years. Would anyone be against that?
- adwolf130

I would not be against that I also would rather let him walk for nothing than deal him at the deadline unless the deal is a clear winner, my concern is the chemistry of the team as well Adam, too much of a well liked player on and off the ice, I think Brass and Hags would be crying for weeks

Heading to MSG. As far as the Sens being 13-1-1 since 09, I swear I've been to about 6 losses against the Sens in that time. My favorite was a shutout loss to Mike Brodeur (WHO THE (frank)?)

LETS GO RANGERS!
