Jesus christ.

Ok, bring in Mark Pysyk and play him against the toughest opposing forwards and keep him here for more than a few games and see how excellent his Fenwick is.

Not sure why common sense is never used

Common sense isn't so common as they say

Is Fenwick the one that takes into account zone starts as well?
- buffalofan19

I believe the major difference is that Fenwick doesn't account for blocked shots (assumes it as a skill). But I don't believe it takes zone starts into account, i think that's a separate category altogether.

That's always been my major beef with Corsi, other than it being pretty directional. It effectively penalizes a team for blocking shots, which is actually a good thing when done right.

Ted Nolan, brilliant coach extraordinaire has the home change and puts 4th line against Giroux. Cue Bill O'Reilly "you can't explain that"

In terms of possession if you're blocking a lot shots you aren't possessing the puck. Yeah great job getting in front of them. It's included in Corsi to show how many attempts you are giving up towards your goal.

Similarly, a guy who has a lot of hits is probably a possession black hole (Steve Ott)

But, I thought Ted Nolan HAD to do that since this roster is so poor. He's exempt from all poor judgment because of this.

I wonder if the scene in the locker room was something like this after Thursday's game:

He's one of those clowns that speed Corsi/fenwick stats without context.

I'm not sure how you compare 4 games of Pysyk on the bottom pairing with Myers 30+ games of facing teams top lines, but he spins it that way.

Pysyk is better and it isn't close.

One of the quotes of the year so far.

Better not be for Myers unless the Sabres get more because ROR's contract is up in 2016 and then he's an UFA.

"though O’Reilly’s unrestricted free agent status in 2016 could be a sticking point.
O’Reilly contract and his contentious negotiation history with the Avalanche seems the basis for the rumors. His annual cap hit is $6 million but in actual salary he’s making $5.8 million this season and $6.2 million for 2015-16. Should he test the 2016 free-agent market he could command over $8-million annually."
