Wrong. McDonagh is on the ice against those guys.
- Feds91Stammer

You're wrong on this one. Staal, Klein and Stralman did a good job vs Crosby's line 5 on 5. Malkin and Jokinen killed the Rangers, spefically Mcdonagh and Girardi.

McDonagh had a tough playoff, until the Montreal series, then he had arguably one of the top playoff series any Ranger has ever had in franchise history.

AV put Staal up against Tavares' line the other night multiple times too.

Wasn't knocking Mcdonagh. Was mainly highlighting that if the Penguins advanced it would have been because Malkin was amazing.

The contract itself doesn't really bother me. It's the NTC that gets me. Especially when that was the whole reason Callahan got traded in the first place. Also the fact that it pretty much guarentees Zuc and St. Louis are gone after this year.

no I know you weren't I am not either. He just wasn't 100% healthy until about midway through that Pens series and they would have been gone already had it not been for Staal picking up the slack.

Makes me wonder what jeff petry will get on the open market. I think he is better than staal.

Yeah, skimbro! The -42 has nothing to do with the fact that the oilers team sucks around him or the wonderful goaltending of dubnyk, bachman, scrivens, fasth. Plus minus isn't a reflection of a player in a lot of cases. If that is your only rebuttal to my argument, then that is sad. He wouldn't be a -42 if he had lundqvist on his team.

I am pretty sure that the avalanche made the playoffs last year with a piss poor corsi rating. Another terrible example. The forwards are responsible for getting a majority of the shots.

But Petry would be considered an more impact player because he's on the ice when the Oilers drive posession, Shots for, goals for shots blocked etc. That's what I ment.

Jeff Petry would be considered the better player because of Fenwick and Corsi, even though his actual defensive game lacks especially against bigger forward behind the goal line.

There is no way for me to prove it as long a petry is on that atrocity of an oilers team. Corsi and plus minus don't prove a whole lot. I am pretty sure that staal has been knocked silly more than petry which makes him a risk. As a flyers fan, i am more worried about talbot, lundqvist and girardi than staal.

Staal was the best defenseman of either team in the Rangers-Flyers playoff series last year. Don't tell me you didn't watch that series.

The flyers have a hard time getting shots through bc of girardi not staal. Girardi goes down to block shots a lot more than staal

the Rangers won game seven vs the Flyers 2-1. Staal led all players in the game in icetime and nobody had more hits. Am I allowed to use that stats?

If staal was as good in that series as you say he was, then it would have never gone seven games. In reality, philly should have won that series if mason played all seven games. Emery handed the rangers half of their wins. In that case, we wouldn't be having this discussion.
