Maybe.

The counterpoint is that he is the only significant player missing from last year's roster which was a playoff bubble team.

If people who complained about Kimmo last year wanted to see what the team would look like without him....they now have their wish.

- johndewar

Let's say for arguments sake he could play. At his age with his health that is a huge risk to take on for another team. I wouldn't want to be the GM who makes that trade.

But you are 100% correct about the team missing him on the ice and probably more importantly in the locker room. Need him on the PK and I like what Streit does on PP1 but Kimmo could jump start that 2nd unit.

Berube bought out the entire plane so Akeson could learn a thing or two on the trip.

Not a ton of risk in giving up a 2nd round pick for Timonen.

Berube staying. Hextall reiterated that Berube is not the reason for the Flyers' poor season and that he has no plans to replace him.

We've all seen this before here & in other places and then the coach is replaced. They as a whole need to get better coaches, players, etc not a 100% of the blame can be pushed in 1 direction

You don't think so? I guess I'm looking at it from the other team's view. Getting a player who will be with me for 6 months (assuming they go to the Cup) vs giving up a guy who could be a building block for a team for 10-12 years.

It is the epitome of high risk high reward. If a team he goes to wins it all it pays off huge. However if it goes all Ryan Miller on the Blues last year and it's a first round knockout, that's a tough pill to swallow.

It's a gutsy move to say the least.

I agree, reality is that statement really doesn't mean anything more then he doesn't have plans to replace Berube RIGHT now. I just think it's funny that the media keeps asking him. He's not going to tell them even if he was thinking about it.

We all know by now many of the local media covering the team look to create drama so they have something else or just something at all to right about each day.

Wonder if that means they will be heavily active at the trade deadline?

For a 1st, I'd probably agree with you, but not for a 2nd. The odds of a 2nd round pick becoming a significant NHL player are pretty low. Teams trade first round picks and top prospects for playoff rentals all the time.

Who's in!?

Flyers Drinking Game
Take a shot/mouthful of beer if:
• MacDonald has a gaffe that results in a GA
• A scrub who never scores (like Gomez) or a former Flyer or a slumping player scores
• A team that is slumping beats philly
• A backup goalie shuts them out.
• An AHL goalie shuts them out (double drinks!)
• Referee Dave Jackson waves off a goal.
• An NHL rookie gets his first NHL goal.
• Umberger loses a board battle.
• They blow a 2 goal lead.
• They lose in a shootout.
• Flyers spend a full minute in their end

I expect something, but the Flyers really don't have that many players that are typical of the kind of players that move at the deadline.

As far as the first one, I won't even get a buzz, and may not even get to take one drink.

3. Vorcek's crabs act up and he can't finish the game.
2. Rinaldo with multiple double minors.
1. We allow our current defence to play as usual.
