is sutter an rfa after this season or has 1 more year? itd basically be a ufa/RFA swap, but I do believe boedker is the better offensive player compared to sutter, though not sure of his D or faceoff abilities. and yandle obviously the better offensive d man, but once again martin the better defensive d man...basically it seems to me that it wouldnt help or hurt either team enough to make it worth it...maybe instead of pouliout wed throw in chorney or dumo... or like a 3rd or 4th rounder in year 2020 when we have our next draft pick hahaha

Sutter is signed through next season and I'm pretty sure then he is a UFA. Boedker is a wing and doesn't have great numbers and has only hit 50 points once, although he is on the coyotes. I agree on Martin although Martin is solid offensively, we need his defensive presence. We can't move any picks (1 pick in top 90 next year) and next year we need to keep picks.. we need homegrown talent

Yeah, can't see the Pens trading a true #1 defenseman who's contract keeps looking better and better as contracts are being handed out to UFA defensemen.

Exactly, especially a Norris type dman. He is so valuable to us it's not even funny. What other dman do you know that can hop in on the forecheck, rush, screen the goalie and is basically a winger that can get back on the D before the play goes the other way while still being great on D?

Absolutely, be happy. No one deserves to suffer like you guys did (Well, maybe Flyers fans) and as others have pointed out, there are similarities to the Pirates. But saying stuff like "Pens fans can't talk about what's happened this year so they are looking at the past" like somehow the Islanders sweeping the Pens a couple months back means any more to us than 4 points in the standings is only going to invite the response you got. Nothing that happens in November or January or March means squat in the larger picture to most of us here at this point (which is sad in a way, but that's the way it is).

True but talking about shat that happened 3-5 years ago does? That's why I made that comment about not saying anything about what going today because that's true. If the isles were struggling that's what all the comments would be about but since they are not its like you have to find something to get a rise out of us no?

Kris Letang is not a #1 D, and especially not a franchise D. Pittsburgh has made him into those two things and it's not a coincidence that Pittsburgh has won four playoff series since 2009. It's silly to assume that he's still going to develop into anything more than a misplaced 3.

At one point earlier this season I compared Letang to St. Louis Blues D Kevin Shattenkirk; a #3 who racks up PP points, eating 4.250M a year. Letang is now a less effective player at the same position and is costing the Penguins on and off the ice.

So I'm not twisted or even trying to twist things, u just need to get ur facts straight.
Back 2 the drawing board bud.....

Right of course how dare islander fans be happy that they have seen this rebuild through and are now seeing results. Crazy we should just keep our heads in the sand and be miserable. I'm sure you guys were the same way after you got Crosby & Malkin. What you call puffing out our chest I call being happy that the isles are good again.
- Vukota

Id say 50% of these guys were even fans pre malkin and crosby

shattys contract is going to sky rocket when that time comes, so that point there isnt really valid...i mean, what is a #1 D, weve had this conversation. its hard for letang and subban and those smaller D men because the size just isnt there, and therefor its harder for them(compared to a weber) to defend against other teams top players...offensively, subban and letang are #1 D men, but of course they are not shea weber, which in my eyes is one of the only true #1 D men in the league, and I guess chara

but with that being said, if thats what 1 #1 d man is, then the majority of teams dont have a #1 d man...letang is great, and is better than a lot of d men defensively too...its a team sport though, and he can only succeed so much as his partner will allow...scuderi wont be allowing for a ton of success...any of depres, martin, or hopefully harrington in the future, coupled with tanger could be a top pairing in the NHL

I was just reacting to your statement. I don't have time to read through every line in every thread and contextualize everything that leads up to it. Besides, you should know the deal: if you are here talking smack and being happy, you know you have to suck it up and take some ribbing because no one is allowed to be happy but us. You are supposed to know your role and be effing miserable.

I expect and always receive the same treatment in your thread on the rare occasions I choose to visit. Its all in fun, so take a deep breath and stop being so damn sensitive and get back to posting funny gifs.

I wish the Penguins would move multiple pieces to Arizona for Yandle, Boedker, Doan, or any combination of the three.

Letang, Bennett, Sutter. AZ once again finds themselves in the position of needing to shed salary, and I'm not happy with the Penguins' defense situation, 1 through 6. I think Pittsburgh can play a rookie in the bottom D pairing if only Scuderi wasn't the #6. It may be asking for too much in one season; then again, the top six wing situation is looking like it's going to be fine for the first time in a very long time.

Id honestly say not many when referring to actual fans from long island. Been there all along just not going to games for obvious reasons.

I guess he made enough money with that last contract from Snow (which was essentially a reward for that game) that he won't have to do this for real . My favorite video of Gillies is the time when he played for Anaheim and Boogard knocked him out with an uppercut.

Also, the Islanders need to get back Moulsson so they can reunite the "trifecta of ugliness" - Hamonic, Okposo, and Moulsson. These guys sometimes make me wish that I wasn't watch the game with big plasma TV .

ahh yes , funny indeed

fact of the matter is, if you guys were sucking like you have in the past we wouldnt be talking at all, but the fact that you're a solid team now gives islanders games importance.

Im excited for tonight, just hope its a good game, malkin cant be getting agitated and taking stupid penalties. itd be nice if he and beau continued with their chemistry...

perron is one handsy mofo, he, sid, and eventually horny, are going to be a line to be reckoned with...perron has already started helping sid offensively

How is that any different than what the Pens went through exactly?
