the punch that ended dipietros terrible career did what, broke his jaw or orbital bone and then when he was going down he sprained his mcl? did he hurt his back too or was that a prior injury? sucks for him, and the US, he was supposed to be an elite US goaltender for years to come... - JLT168
Dp's career was essentially over when he screwed up his hip in the all-star game. He was never close to even average after that. Glad we finally put him down, was like watching an animal suffer with all those attempted comebacks. |

Considering you are talking about/rooting for team that hasn't won a single playoff series since 1993, I can understand how the current level of competence the Islanders are displaying at the moment must seem positively momentous to many of you. But until they start handing out rings for regular season wins, I wouldn't puff my chest out too much. - Emperor Filonius
Right of course how dare islander fans be happy that they have seen this rebuild through and are now seeing results. Crazy we should just keep our heads in the sand and be miserable. I'm sure you guys were the same way after you got Crosby & Malkin. What you call puffing out our chest I call being happy that the isles are good again. |

"The Islanders are the number one Score-Adjusted Fenwick team in the NHL which is a great place to be. Last year they were ranked 22nd at 48.7% so their improvement has been dramatic."
The Isles seems to be the perfect team to analyze in terms of what the predicted outcome from moves would be versus the actual. |

Agreed. We have no need to go for Yandle, also really no need to go for Boedker because when we are healthy we will be solid. Although I would love him here |

Yeah, I equate it to the Buccos. Worst sports franchise over a twenty year span and then they finally get back to the playoffs two years ago. Pirates fans and casual fans were so freaking over the moon and then to make it again last year. Sometimes when you have been through so much, you just have to sit back and enjoy it because you don't know how long it will last or if you will even hit that ultimate pinnacle of a championship. If you are only allowed to be happy and excited about your team when they win a championship then that would be a pretty miserable sports experience. |

Exactly. I was rooting hard for the Pirates these last two years. I'm a Yankee fan but ever since I was a kid I also like the Pirates |

I think bennett plays better with geno than sutter and needs to play top 6. But i can deal with the switch |

I absolutely 100% agree with you. Hell, with the teams I root for if I only cared about Championships, I would have jammed hot sticks in my eyes and ripped out my ear drums years ago. Although I must admit, there have been times, particularly the late 1990s and early aughts where those things seemed like a preferable option to watching Rangers hockey.

I just think Kuni would open up the ice more for Geno and Jags, Bennett is a great player and Sutturd needs great players in order to be effective at all. |

I wish the Penguins would move multiple pieces to Arizona for Yandle, Boedker, Doan, or any combination of the three.
Letang, Bennett, Sutter. AZ once again finds themselves in the position of needing to shed salary, and I'm not happy with the Penguins' defense situation, 1 through 6. I think Pittsburgh can play a rookie in the bottom D pairing if only Scuderi wasn't the #6. It may be asking for too much in one season; then again, the top six wing situation is looking like it's going to be fine for the first time in a very long time. |

because im bored and its friday...
sutter, martin, pouliout for yandle and boedker...i dont know the terms for yandle or boedker, and I imagine it wouldnt be worth it to the yotes unless they knew they were going to keep martin and sutter for that matter... a pipe dream i know, and honestly that move doesnt make either team better. i just dont see us wanting or needing yandle, then again if we knew we werent going to resign hoff or martin then maybe yandle becomes more of a necessity...
haha I wrote this before I saw your quote

Yandle is a UFA next year and Boedker is a RFA. No way I do this deal in the first place. Sutter is needed and on a good contract, Martin is needed for a cup run although Yandle could replace him and Pouliot is too good to throw in there. Management has been quoted it would have to be a huge return if he was to send any of the prospects out, and DP is the one with most potential |

is sutter an rfa after this season or has 1 more year? itd basically be a ufa/RFA swap, but I do believe boedker is the better offensive player compared to sutter, though not sure of his D or faceoff abilities. and yandle obviously the better offensive d man, but once again martin the better defensive d man...basically it seems to me that it wouldnt help or hurt either team enough to make it worth it...maybe instead of pouliout wed throw in chorney or dumo... or like a 3rd or 4th rounder in year 2020 when we have our next draft pick hahaha
greiss could be part of that equation too...though arizona jsut came out and said theyre rolling with smith bc its win win, he starts playing better, then they have some confidence in him going forward, he doesnt, they end up with eichel or mcdavid |

Yeah, can't see the Pens trading a true #1 defenseman who's contract keeps looking better and better as contracts are being handed out to UFA defensemen. |

Absolutely, be happy. No one deserves to suffer like you guys did (Well, maybe Flyers fans) and as others have pointed out, there are similarities to the Pirates. But saying stuff like "Pens fans can't talk about what's happened this year so they are looking at the past" like somehow the Islanders sweeping the Pens a couple months back means any more to us than 4 points in the standings is only going to invite the response you got. Nothing that happens in November or January or March means squat in the larger picture to most of us here at this point (which is sad in a way, but that's the way it is). |
