MAF is leading the league in shorthanded save percentage. Just wanted to add that, because his "nice" season (two days in a row with that half-hearted compliment) shouldn't be gauged simply on ES SV %. - hardnosed
Isles have the most shorthanded goals, should be interesting |

Good point. I guess AMac needs his own category. So sad... - jmatchett383
In the summer I got ripped on the flyers boards for suggesting amac was a highly overpaid bottom pairing defenseman. Didn’t matter if I provided corsi, showed how the other isles defensemen all played better away from amac than with him, or even describing what us Isles fans had seen from him watching over the past several years, one of your posters in particular insisted that after watching amac for 20 games he was a top four defenseman and was good value on his contract.
How do you guys feel about him now?

Cleared, but still with the Pens. Pens have 5 days off over all star break, it would make sense to send everyone they can down and save a few pennies.

It made sense why he was a sought after trade target last year. Everyone was up against the cap, and he was an experienced NHL d-man for like a $600k cap hit.
But it is absolutely bizarre how much money the Flyers threw at him. |

Kris Letang is not a #1 D, and especially not a franchise D. Pittsburgh has made him into those two things and it's not a coincidence that Pittsburgh has won four playoff series since 2009. It's silly to assume that he's still going to develop into anything more than a misplaced 3.
At one point earlier this season I compared Letang to St. Louis Blues D Kevin Shattenkirk; a #3 who racks up PP points, eating 4.250M a year. Letang is now a less effective player at the same position and is costing the Penguins on and off the ice. - Johnny Wrath
Disagree 100 percent. Letang is as talented as any d man in the league in the offensive zone and solid (underated) in his own end... Is he Weber, Suter, Chara, Doughty, Keith, Karlson no!!!!! but what your saying is there are 60 d men in the league better then Letang... That's utterly ridiculous... Please name them Johnny??????

I agree. I don't like him, but letang is an excellent offensive defenseman. Maybe not a great defender, but one of the best in the league at scoring. |

We didn't want him back at the same price, we wanted him gone. When it came out that snow offered him 4 mil per for four years I think all the isles fans felt like we had dodged a bullet when he declined it. Philly gave him a stupid contract and I think they'll buy him out by the end of next year. |

There were about 4 pages of arguing about that brawl that happened 4 years ago... You know the one where 13 of the 20 guys who got at least 5 min in penalties have since moved on to other teams.... 8 of whom aren't even in the NHL anymore. |

Chara, Seabrook, Keith, Weber, Giordano (This year), Pieterangelo, Karlson, Weber, Suter, Subban, Doughty all above him.
Letang is on the same level as Mccdaunagh, Bowmeister, Kronwall... et... a number 1 but would be ranked somewhere between 10-30 ... Since there are 30 teams that makes him a number 1 |

I don't have an issue with how you've ranked him, definitely a number one on a good number of teams. |

I did stay away from that, it's history tonight's game won't have that in it

I've been half-assing it, it has been surprisingly civil. Intelligent conversation on Hockeybuzz for the most part, and no I'm not drunk!
Most of the same guys that engaged last playoff series and the year before are the same non-Richards as they were before. |

Really looking forward to this weekend of games. Would feel better if Hornqvist was back, but it's nice to see Sid with more jump the last few.
LGP!
I heard on the radio that Bortz is scratched in favor of Harrington tonight. I didn't know Harrington was back up. Anybody know if that's true?

I've got the Islanders feed. This might be interesting.
So far Martin was forced into Fleury and the Penguins are running Halak. |

I hate Steiggy so much, but it's been medically proven that listening to Butch Goring actually makes you dumber.
I have the worst of both worlds... I'm watching a Pens stream at work and DVRing the MSG feed because I'm going to miss some of it. |
