Wow, looks like the Tank is on in earnest now... 7-0 to the down and out Wild, even Vanek scored against us.

Murray has got to be licking his chops at the thought of a potential top-2 pick.

I know. Nothing's guaranteed.

Nope, whoever we get could be a complete bust, but I think he knows what he is doing, just going to take time, ah well..... is what it is.

Eichel is going to be a great player, but I can't stress how much better it would be for the Sabres to win the lottery and get McDavid. He will turn this team around so much quicker.

Jeremy White nailed it this morning.

1) This is what we signed up for and hoped for. Why are people either upset or marvelling at how...well?... it is going?

2) Anything that happens this year has absolutely no effect on what happens in future years.

So when Stafford, Stewart, and Enroth or Neuvirth, and perhaps a few scrubs get traded before or at the deadline it will be interesting to see how much worse this team will get or whether it will matter. They can't get much worse, can they?

Why would it get worse? I'd be afraid of it getting better.

Happy with the loss, horrified (reed: a little nauseous) with the score. I really do feel we need to lose and still put out an effort. A few more games like this and it'll be tough to believe Nolan keeps his job the entire season. Yes, I know the objective is to fail, but now we've gotta go back to effort out on the ice. We're not even getting that right now. I won't be holding a pitchfork anytime soon, all I want is for a little effort.. a 2-1 loss here, a 4-2 loss there.. fine.

I like that kid. I think he's a good pickup and actually adds/will add true value to our checking line in the future.

You can sprinkle in a 5-0 loss every now and then too. But effort is needed. Zemgus has even disappeared.

Made this comment the other day and didn't clarify. Somehow the Oilers are still worse in the standings than us, yet they are a remarkably better team. Yeah, I know, they play in the west. But they should have more wins than us. Shouldn't they?

The problem is that 2-1 games have a chance of going in the wrong direction. I'd rather feel comfortable knowing the game is over early.

They will. After all, we made up 8 points in two or three weeks. Arizona is the real threat now.

When/if we get good, having him as a 4th liner will be money. Big hard hitting defensively responsible guy that skates hard and can slide up to the 3rd line or even 2nd if it is required for a short time

The Oilers are so much better than us it's not even funny. They out shot the Lightning by a considerable amount tonight. They will pass us
- sbroads24

They weren't exactly playing a crap team, so them losing last night wasn't a big deal, it's when they lose to EVERYBODY that it sucks..

The very, very, very good news.

1) Completely stocked farm
2) 30+ million in cap space next year
3) 4 (or more) picks in the top 30 of deep draft this year
4) 5 of your future defenseman are 24 and younger. You want your d to be older than your forwards.

EDIT: I meant to say top 31/32

we currently have 3 picks in the top 30.. don't get too far ahead of yourself.. outside of picks i don't think we have any assets we are willing to move that get you a first

Sorry, i meant to stay top 31/32 (top of second round). I agree - I don't see anyone that we want to move getting a first. TM couldn't move up last year - I can't imagine it being easier this year.

In a weak draft with only one first round pick, it was probably a lot harder to move up. This year is a much deeper draft, with 2 late firsts instead of one early 2nd. Not saying it'll happen, but it's a lot more feasible.

The next fun question. We get 2nd overall pick. Do you throw all 3 firsts at (The Oilers) for McD?

I'd rather they throw 2 picks + to move up for Hanifin (or whoever shakes out as the #1 d-man)

You do realize who that Paul Gaustad first rounder got us, right?

That makes it even more amazing.
