We need to accept that without some craftiness by Sather this is the team that's gonna be together for the playoffs and it's not a bad thing at all, we would have to just solve the faceoffs internally
- HankdaTank

Sather will do something. Probably not something big, but he'll do something. Probably at the 6th defender spot, and maybe a bottom 6 forward.

Someone needs to give MacT a call and see if he will sign just for the playoffs for faceoffs since he isn't having much success in his current job.

Pretty sure he told Boyle he signed with the wrong team on top of it after I watched the replay. . Clutter is an agitator. Not an overly dirty player you'll rarely/never see him with intent to injure but he does agitate and do it extremely well. Thats what kind of player he is and if you hate him and boyle hates him hes doing exactly what he gets payed for. Believe me I felt the same way about avery

It's funny you said that. My buddy at work who is good friends with Staple said that's exactly what he told him because they were laughing about it in the locker room after the game

I'm waiting for the worst news possible, out 3 to 4 weeks, hope we have some nice stick work waiting for Matty Marts or one of their top players
- HankdaTank

Didn't even see where Stepan became injured to be honest. Was it a Matt Martin slash?

Rangers passed on him because?

This looks especially bad if Stepan is out for a significant amount of time.

Although technically this game was not a "road" game, The Islanders just ended a 7 game road trip. They have been in their beds the same amount of days as the Rangers (since Sunday morn). Lets not use "tired legs" as an excuse. I watched the San Jose Rangers game late Sat, and that was a back to back for the Rangers and their legs were fine. The Islanders are a VERY GOOD team this year, and a force to be reckoned with. We hear about the Rangers speed all the time, the Islanders can go toe to toe with their speed, and they showed it last night. Give kudos, not excuses.

Dude read the posts 99% of those gave credit to the Isles. Gees you guys are a touchy bunch.

And the fact of the matter as fans of the Rangers we know when they look gassed. They were last night. Doesnt mean they would have won, just a fact. Not an excuse or anything.

There are no excuses, the Islanders were the better team last night. The Rangers didn't have their usual A-grade speed game last night and a lot of that had to do with lack of possession as opposed to the Islanders matching the Rangers overall speed game.

Islanders composed a good game plan to neutralize the Rangers quickness and it was aided by their prowess on the face off. Rangers rarely had the puck, especially in that decisive second period.

Yea Isles were good last night but no way were the Rangers the Rangers last night. Something was off. Maybe Malone forgot to drop off the "secret sauce" or they left it on the west coast.

All I know is I am not ready to bow down and call the Isles my daddy because of a January win

I forgot all about Malone. We were all excited after his preseason, that star faded rather quickly.

I though the game was pretty entertaining but what did the Rangers in was that shorthanded goal. You can even see it on Henrik face that he could not believe he gave up that goal. IT seems recently that Hank has problems with the Isles. I don't know what it is but that goal to me was soft and it really killed the Rangers as the third period to me was a bore fest. There were plenty of opportunities for the Rangers but they did not capitalize on them.

All in all though I thought it was a great game and I have to agree the Rangers looked off. I would like to see both teams going at 100% and see that type of game. Maybe playoffs but with the Isles you never know anything can happen

you do have to admit that this is a better Islander team though? I am not ready to even say that we are going to make the playoffs yet. I mean the Islanders have to keep this pace up for the rest of the year and I don't know if they can

Where are they contract wise? Are they at 50? Arcobello must feel like a kid in a candy shop, going from Edm to Nash and now to Pitt. Great start last season but faded substantially since then.

The Islanders are going to make the playoffs. It would take a collapse not to, and that team isn't going to collapse. You guys are beyond that point.

I pretty much guarantee you guys make the playoffs. As far as being better.. Isles look a 100x better than they have in recent years. Halak, Boychuck and Leddy are looking like some of the best pickups in the offseason. Although I'm not exactly sure how or when you guys got Halak.

Also having Strome, Lee and Nelson play regularly has been huge also.

Isles have to completely fall apart to miss the playoffs. Something tells me that just isn't going to happen this season.

Seriously though if Halak goes down to injury (which he is known to do) we would be screwed. When Boychuck went down we lost like 4 out of 5. I mean everyone seems to be winning in this division it is sick. I did not even know the Rangers won 13 out of 14 I was look OMG that is amazing!!

Being an Islander fan for years though you always remember the bad. Like when they lose like 7 or eight games in a row and then become a laughing stock again.
