To give you an idea of how buffalo feels about Stewart he was a healthy scratch last night and is on pace for 10 goals and 23 points. They get a 26 year old RFA and a physical character guy for an expiring contract and a 2nd. Don't they have 3 firsts this year? I don't think the 2nd is a problem.
- nyrangers9479

I used to love Stewart but not sold on him at all. If getting him prefer not to give up much. Maybe he would be motivated coming to NY and a pennant race, but not expecting a major revision.

I would definitely be into acquiring him, the Rangers would also have to figure out a way to take his cap hit, 3.75 mil
- jimbro83

Trust me, Vermette can be had without a 1st, unless a desperate team forks it up. With this draft class being deep very hard for a team to part w/this years 1st.....

That Capitals trade...Jesus.

Imagine if they had Forsberg?

- MidnightMarauder

Brutal deal. Could turn as ugly as the Gomez deal is for the Habs.

We have seen how good the third line can be using Hags' speed coupled with Hayes' playmaking and either Miller or Stempniak there. If you could add a center that wins draws and move Hayes to wing, that would bolster the lineup. But again, the team just won 13 of 14 before last night, so no reason to panic, though we all the holes that exist which need to be filled.
- airjan23

100% agree Jan. I'm thinking way ahead to get someone for a playoff run for faceoffs. Despite last night, still love the makeup of the team.

Problem I see with moving Hagelin is, the guy is great on the PK, which would open a whole other issue, and despite not putting up points right now, he spends a lot of time in the other teams zone. I don't want to lose Hagelin.
- mdw7413

I'm firmly against losing Hagelin as well. We talk about his stone hands and inability to score but he has more goals this year than Zuccarello. His career shooting percentage isn't much different either. I openly admit that Zucc is a better play maker but Hagelin is one of the few guys we still have that can go into the boards and almost always come away with the puck.

Don't get me wrong I love both players but when the dotted line is next signed for these guys Zucc will probably cost close to double what Hagelin does. I'm just not up for paying an extra $2M+ in a cap world.

an expiring contract is buffalo's benefit, and the pick too. Why would they take a crap player in Glass for a couple of more years when there are rebuilding and have 2 players similar & better than Glass? C'mon genius, sell me this one????

Sorry but that makes no sense for Buffalo's perspective.....
- Ur Not Me

I really don't agree. Makes no sense from the Rangers' perspective. I think Stewart is bum, and I would rather have Hagelin on my team every day of the week and twice on Sunday than Stewart.

Hagelin was key for the Rangers in last year's playoffs. I think he is a playoff type player.

Yeah, its going to be a tough call between the 2. I'm hoping there will be a way to keep both.

It's no use with this guy. He argued last month that Hedman isn't elite. He doesn't know much about hockey outside the islanders.

Even tho Hagelin is a nice player, but having to take on Glass plus giving up a 2nd, sorry makes no sense to buffalo. Hey just for poopz & giggles, go ask there fanbase and see what type of response u get???

If the Rangers moved Hagelin for Stewart I would need you guys to come bail me out of jail for murdering Sather. Stewart looks like the Trent Richardson of the NHL. He seems to have all the tools to be an impact player and yet despite numerous chances he is a healthy scratch on a terrible team.

Stewart-Hayes-Miller that's a big physical 3rd line. To me looks much better than with Hags.

How about Drew Stafford if the Buffalo would retain some salary? He's on an expiring contract and probably wouldn't cost much. Always plays well against the Rangers, and would provide the Rangers with some insurance at the center ice position.

Don't know whether he can play much wing, however.

I totally agree. That trade would be a disaster. There are certain guys that are just better players when the intensity goes up and the games get bigger. Hagelin is one of those guys. Stewart is a dog, plain and simple.

doesn't it feel right now like we won 1 out of 14 before last night?
- jimbro83

Yep, couldn't even bring myself to finish watching the game. I was so disgusted after that shorthanded goal.

Vermette isn't putting the Rangers at the head of the contender line. He definitely is not worth the alleged price it will take to acquire him.

I think on a new team with a fresh start he would succeed. For w.e reason things got stale in St Louis and he's not motivated playing for a franchise that's tanking for McEichel. I think he could be a difference maker for us.

Rex Ryan presser starting now. Bills owner Terry Pegula goofs, says "Sabres" instead of Bills. Quickly corrects himself. #nyj

We need to accept that without some craftiness by Sather this is the team that's gonna be together for the playoffs and it's not a bad thing at all, we would have to just solve the faceoffs internally
