They'd have to hit it big on both, it's not like they're knocking on the doorstep of top 10 running, they're a ways away.
- Sabresfan-365

not really if they can develop the clowns whaley drafted for the o line last year as well.

Same RB's that went off 2 years ago. The team needs to fix the OL and have a play caller that knows how to get his RB's in space. Roman knows how to do that.

Didn't know that, probably makes things easier.

there's a real good crop of free agent tight ends this year...names include Julius Thomas, Jordan Cameron, Jermaine Gresham, niles paul

2015 is an extremely strong free agent market

- Michael Pachla

I want nothing to do with Cameron, too injured

The others all work but I prefer they draft O leary from Fl. State if he is around.

They were also 2nd in the league in total rushing last season (2013). This has to do with the OL being bad and poor play calling. Get a guard that can pull and get out to the LB's and it fixes the running issue.

The team is ready to win now, they have the playmakers on both sides of the ball a championship caliber D that is only going to get better. They are close really close.

When Mario scored with a minute left in game 6 to force ot, and the pens went on to win it. I sensed it was over.

I still remember saint Dougie Gilmour loafing up ice on that goal. I always hated him.

yeah it's an easy fix if Whaley gets him the tools

The QB does not need to be elite if the line gets fixed

Sanchez, Hoyer, McCoy would all work.

I know I was against Hoyer before, but Hoyer is a good fit with Ryan as the head coach IMO

and alot of times a team that isn't the best or even top 3, wins it all because of how the match ups fall..
- IndianaSabresFan

Not sure about that, the re-seeding that occurs in the playoffs usually does a good job of preventing this from happening. At some point to win the cup you'll have to be able to beat a pretty good team.

It's true LA got a pretty good matchup in the finals last year, but they had to take down arguably the next best team in the playoffs in the conf. finals. Plus i'm not sure anyone in the east would have faired that much better, general opinion was that the winner of LA-CHI would cruise to the cup.

They need a guard that can pull and an OC willing to run the ball wide. Also a few more trick plays like New England had. Flea flickers and such.

Sneaky "ineligible receivers" played by RBs?

Mike Mularkey offense: Wait till we are winning. Identify the shortest player in the league who is not a QB and has a cast on his hand. Have him throw downfield.

Jauron offense: Wait till kneeling down on third down ends the game. Drop back 7 steps to the goal line, look deep, fumble, loose the game.

It may have been the ownership situation beginning to crumble, but something definitely wasn't right with that team as the year went on. They played well, but Hasek wanted out, and Gilmour had some parting shots on his way out the door. That's when it became a place nobody wanted to play.

Was Barnes the captain at that time? I think that's one of the things that we've struggled with for years. It would be nice to have a clear-cut leader.

I don't know that he ever played so much as one honest shift for us. That's another case of a Sabre team falling in love with a player that beat them in the past. They should call that the "Geoff Sanderson Award".

And yet the line with him, Curtis Brown, and Miro Satan was probably their best offensive line by a mile during the playoffs. I didn't really have a problem with him.

i could argue against that. COuld give a flyer to Locker , Austin Davis, Maybe even a colt mccoy. Not anythign great but cold run the offense that will be put into place.

He was a thorn in our side during that 98 ECF. I guess my expectations were too high
