6 PP chances. Need to come away with more than a goal. Especially not a goal towards the very end.

Flyers had some good looks just couldn't cash in. Couple that with Emery crapping the bed today

The guy misses a week or so with a back spasm, comes back says he suffered a tweak, leaves another practice for an MRI & then ends up getting hurt in a game...

I get that Berube doesn't have a lot of options, but the guy is clearly banged up. Even the best horse is worthless if you ride him into the ground

Mason could have also pulled himself if he felt it was best, but probably with some encouragement pushed it too far.

Oh sure, he's got to recognize when he can't push it anymore, but it's got to be hard for a guy who has worked as hard as he has to not push himself to play. He knows he's the best chance they have to win, and he's being a gamer and trying to step up for his teammates.

If they weren't facing must win games in January, maybe it'd be a moot point.

All star players have been picked

I am not thrilled with a chunk of picks.

I just wish they'd accept this season is lost and start preparing for the future. Made no sense to continue playing Mason.

Even if he was healthy, he deserved a night off. Played several games in a row because Emery was pulled in the first period against NJ

The majority of the comments have been the same today. Solid Game by the team but when you can't convert on a half a dozen offensive man adavantage opportunities and blame the goalie who couldn't have possibly be warmed up for this game, it just doesn't seem right. Matt Read for example brought a real effort but looked like a rookie out there. He was handed gifts and screwing up. While the team didn't play horrid, I feel it was a telling tail of the current mix within this group and who is really struggling.

with the premium on D, and he is a guy who looks like he has all the tools to be a #1, I'd be ecstatic if he falls to them

Emery is maybe a little worse this year, but not by a wide margin. If they didn't trust him as a backup, they should have pursued someone else.

I'd just say Rask was really good, and the Bs converted their chances.

Also thought the guys on the #1 PP for the Flyers were outplayed by the Bs #1 PK unit.

And would be perfect because I doubt he'd leave Boston U early & it would fall into line with the patience theme under Hextall.

The PP absolutely hurt us more then it helped us.

I also want to point out that Sean Couturier is having a really good season. He sees the the most talented opponents of each team, plus you can debate who's been worse, Read or Umberger. Couturier is playing well despite his wingers and I think he's going to reach the 20 goal mark this year.

Jimmy Howard being taken off on a stretcher a minute in and allow a PP goal and making the All-Star team.

Sorry but I treat backup goalies like I do QB's in the NFL. You have to be ready and be prepared for every game even if your name isn't called. The injury happened fairly quickly so it wasn't like he was sitting for a long period of time.

He wasn't good today. We can agree to disagree.

He is noticeably slower post to post, but he's still battling.

He wasn't the only reason they lost, but he didn't play very well, and hasn't really been that good overall. In his last ten starts, he's posted a save % above .900 just three times.

Overall, he's at 3.21 and .889 in terms of GAA and save %, while Mason is at 2.46 & .920. That's a big drop off.

Regardless of how the majority feels about the All-Star Game, I'm happy for Jake. He was drafted in Columbus. Making the All-Star Game really solidifies what you've done in the NHL in my opinion. Sometimes you've gotta make an All-Star Team to realize who the real stars of the NHL are. I hope he has a ball.

Yep. My concern with the Mason injury is for long term. Short term? Let him sit out until he feels great
