true dat, although Clarke macarthur has managed to have a pretty solid career, and many thought the same of him
- Michael Pachla

Ay you right about Macarthur. But Macarthur was a more consistant goal scorer in Junior and the AHL before he made it to the big leagues. Varone has scored over 20 goals only once in his career and that was in Junior.

Surely Nolan has a strategy other than being ' mentally tough'?
Time for a coaching change?

- strongsupporter

That's always been the knock on Nolan - heavy on stressing effort and lighter on strategy. That said, I don't want to change a thing right now. Things are going very, very well.

On the plus side you have the best coach for the job.
- BINGO!

That's debatable. Nolan was a good coach when he had guys that would go through a wall for him and win with heart and determination with a little bit of pure skill. There are very few players on this team that play with that type of mentality, and the few that do, besides Girgensons, don't have any skill.

idk...don't think he should be judged on last season or this season...the sabres were bad last year and they're just as bad this year for a number of reasons, save for a 10-3 run when they showed what they're capable of

MacArthur was considered to be a fair prospect. You could see the talent almost immediately. I think there were other things about him that they didn't like.

agreed, but varone's shown he's more of a set-up man...both players were/are kinda the forgotten ones while the bigger names got/get more opportuinies...I guess that was my point

Flynn does what he is supposed to do on the 4th line. Mac is comparable to Molson. I'd take him over 3/4 of this roster.

Mac was a great skater with pretty good skill

IMO Varone is a career AHL'er.

I love Adblock.

I love it even more when I get the stupid popup from Ek whining about having to pay his writers less because of it. If the ad's weren't so annoying and the rumor chart wasn't so lame I may even pony up for a season ticket to help pay the writers !!

I feel like he's gets called under rated to the point where he's now over rated.

I like Flynn a lot, and could actually see him traded in a package to a team for depth

I've said it and I still stand by it: the reason for the 10-3 run was goaltending. It was stellar. Now that it's back down to earth, the team has shown its true colors.
