Very confusing situation with Sabres goalies.
Both UFAs, yet neither holds significant trade value, both have played outstanding at times, both have looked like weak backups at times..but mostly middling play.
Enroth maybe more consistent, but tough to judge with Nolan's system for determining who starts. I think from here on out, GMTM should direct Nolan to let them each play 3 -4 games then rotate to the other for the remainder of the season...give the guys opportunities to have several games in a row to show their stuff. It seems to me that each needs a game or two to get into a groove.

Both are incredibly streaky and inconsistent. Remember, in October and early November, Neuvirth was playing the better hockey and then he got hurt.

Its rough for sure. Goalie has turned into the running back position- completely interchangeable after a few top goalies. I have a tough time seeing a playoff team decide to throw the sabres a second or a third for either guy. Maybe a package deal comes up and one is added as a sweetener.

While true, I feel that the fan base would feel relatively confident in them if we were any bit competitive and had a corsi score not located in the -1000 range.

2 points from last place with a game in hand.

That's the closest we've been in several weeks I believe.

We can do this thing...

Certainly trending in "right" direction. I do see Canes passing us and pulling away.
Edmonton is showing signs of life...let's hope that isn't the final pulse before they flatline again.

Watching the game yesterday and seeing the Lightning pin us in our own zone for shifts at a time made me smile a few times knowing as long as this season finishes the right way what the Sabres will be in a year or two.

Stamkos=McDavid or Eichel
Drouin=Reinhart
Callahan=Girgensons
Hedman=Risto

Plus I sat 8 rows up so I know what I am talking about!

So seat location determines hockey knowledge! Good to know. I thought it was because you had a Big Boy job.

It's amazing we aren't dead last yet.

Also, the few decent players we do have are playing awful

I'll tell you this much, nobody played well on the blue line. Myers pinch was terrible that lead to the GWG. Gorges is turning into Rivet 2.0 and don't get me started on Weber and Benoit...

Girgensons looked tired for the first time ever. Perhaps he is human after all. Varone has a knack for knowing where to go but he doesn't have the skill to finish it off.

Grigorenko played okay but Hodgson is not someone he should play with.

Let the Tank continue ...

Myers is trying to do too much, like pinching on the 2nd Tampa goal. Girgensons did nothing and hasn't looked good lately, same with Ennis. Risto seems afraid to carry the puck now

just keep it going for a few more weeks

I think these two are just pressing too hard right now. Especially Girgs. He's still so young and this type of stuff is to be expected from him at points during the season though.

Girgensons was a turnover machine last night.

Ennis needs help from his forwards nobody was moving to get open.

Myers pinch was awful (yet perfect in the grand scheme of things)

Risto looked very uneasy with the puck. Like you have been saying he is a kid its going to happen.

They are pressing. On a normal team they shouldn't be expected to shoulder the scoring load

Which is unsettling. The moves last summer were actually looking good and I was worries that this team would pull the typical 9th-11th place finish. Maybe TM knew what he was doing?
