There are no original ideas in the world of Hockey Blogging.

Bylsma
Downie
Sutter
Jagr
Not to mention the highly popular "F" and Urine filled balloons

I was the first guy on the ice for all of these topics, since then a lot of people have jumped on; which I think is awesome. Blogging has no rules...

Yohe talking about the impact of his two line blurb about Malkin and Adams from yesterday (29:40 mark):

http://filesource.abacast...m/tribtotal/109PENS15.mp3

Quick hits:

1. Says that bloggers and the twitterverse took his blurb and "blew it out of proportion."

2. Says that it was an ordinary hit in the course of a physical practice, and that their practices get pretty physical. Hit wasn't something "abnormal."

3. Says that most things written about Adams over the past 24 hours are "off the charts." Says Adams wasn't "out to assassinate anybody."

4. "It wasn't a big deal at all really."

Well great. Now we have nothing to talk about until we lose to Montreal tomorrow... Anyone want to discuss the merits of Kunitz skating on the third line, Crosby's decline, or how we can fit an Evander Kane trade under the cap?

Crosby's decline.
- Victoro311

Or we can put our tin foil hats back on and wonder whether Crosby is paying Adams to take Malkin out, because he doesn't want to be the 2nd best player on the team? That would make for some fun conjecture.

Or maybe it's geopolitical. Whose side was Brunei on during the Cold War?!?

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't concerned about Crosby's goal scoring woes. I really question whether this team can win a cup if Sid can't light the lamp anymore. To me, that's the biggest concern for this team.

Sure!

Kunitz is probably better suited for 3rd line duty at this stage in his career but I think that barring another trade for a top 6 Kunitz will find his way back on the top line with Crosby and Hornqvist going into the playoffs.

Crosby looks bored, its been the same old same old for half a decade with this team. Top of the league during the regular season, he doesnt have to put in 100% right now, he's won all the individual awards he wants except one... Conn Smythe which he will win this year after he turns it up to 11 come playoff time. Either that or his wrist has been reinjured.

Fit Kane? Thats easy. Trade Martin for picks/prospects. I dont see a trade we can make to land Kane, but we could certainly fit him under the cap.

Are you implying that you don't have one on right now? You know that the government transmits airwaves to control our minds and the only way to block them is with tin foil, right?

Id do a conditional pick there too depending. Isnt Talbot a pending UFA or does he have another year left?....no capgeek makes this a lot more difficult...to that end there is something shady about the story with the site being shut down. If you have health problems serious enough to shudder the site, why wouldnt you accept monetary offers to purchase it? seems fishy.
- Rawdog9755

With you there Rawdog - Capgeek. Unless he had an accident that is life threatening the suddenness of the closure seems strange. I read that it was a 1 man band that had contacts. But if it's C you would think he had time to do something - must have someone he loves & could give the money to?

Sounds as if he has been threatened & told to shut it or he is working on something else with someone to bring a new version back?? By why shut it down?

Wonder if he has a copyright? Very strange.

His shooting percentage is way down, which only leads to more agonizing speculation about his wrist

I don't think Kunitz has been bad this year. It seemed to the eye that some of his physical play was down while he was playing with sid and hornqvist but I thought that when he went down with geno his physicality was picking back up a little bit. Its why I had no hesitation to want perron up on sid's lw, maybe kunitz just needed a change of scenery.

What even is this argument? Just like bad players have diffrent playing styles, star players have diffrent playing styles. Are you gonna tell me that guys like Getzlaf and Bergeron don't put their bodies on the line for their team? Not every star player is an Ovechkin. Also, are you actually questioning the work ethic of star players? You serious? Guys like Towes and Crosby have INSANE work ethic, probably even better than Craig Adams. That's how they stay so dominant.

Adams is a SCRUB! I don't understand how you can't see this. Blake Comeau is being payed the EXACT SAME as Captain PK and is leagues better than him. I understand that Comeau was a lucky find, but still. Throwing out salary cap does not justify Adams because there is always a better option for the same price. Hell, Klinkhammer was a better option! And you can't tell me there aren't more Robby Klinks out there.

And there is just no saving your soul if you're gonna put people that analyze stats in the same league as Jimmy Blue who plays HUT on his free time. If you're going to ignore stats just because you have decided you like Craig Adams and the stats prove that he is not a good hockey player, then fine. Its bullpoop pig headedness like that which has lead to some pretty atrocious contracts by the Penguins recently.

I'm liking the Fleury deal more now seeing Bob got 7.5 per....

And Craig Adams sucks, he probably walked in on Burkle or Mario getting a handy from an ice dancer and now every Coach and GM wonders exactly why he is still here and why he gets to play every night despite the fact that he sucks

I go back and forth... I think that top 9 in some form or fashion is good enough to win, and having PMart just solidifies the defense that much more.

But...

Adding Justin Williams to the mix and putting Downie on the 4th line would make that forward group even better, and if Maatta is deemed healthy, it might be worth the risk.

What do you guys think about a trade with the Flames for Sven B (who a few of you were talking about earlier in the season) & Dumoulin straight up - is the value the same? LW that the Flames have plenty of & young. He would probably be playing on the team if he were with the Pens. He would dare I say it - be better than Adams?

Crosby is in a lil funk right now, nothin to freak out about. he will start producing now that he has a capable guy on his line. my prediction is that malkin and crosby finish 1 and 2 in scoring at the end of the year as long as they can stay healthy.

i was kindof for trading martin for a top 6 winger untill seeing how the team played without him over the past couple weeks. we looked pretty bad untill that boston game, the game when paul returned.

one more thing.....anyone paying attention to those rangers. someone lit a fire under they arses. hopefully they are getting hot at the wrong time.

is it too early to start pregaming for the game tonight?

Does La have cap space to fit Martin without dropping any of their players? If so Martin to La for picks, then Spaling, pouliot, and those picks for Kane. Lol dammit I'm bored. Who got lines for tonight's game? And when's comeau expected back?

Disclaimer: I was kidding about Kane.

EDIT: JK. This team will never be complete until we have a top 10 NHL superstud winger for Sid.

Trade Malkin and Martin. Use all that cap room to bolster your entire lineup and play more of a team game.
