The worrisome thing to me, is seeing Bryan Allen clear waivers. I had some hopr that Grossmann would be worth a pick at the draft or maybe the deadline...can't see that now. Same might apply to Luke Schenn.

IMO, because of the 1 year remaining on both their contracts I don't think either can be moved until the summer when free agent frenzy is over and teams that lost out might be inclined to trade. Without knowing for sure what the cap will be, that extra year is a killer.

I don't think any team is taking marginal players with term left but as far as good players like Coburn or Read, a team would probably deal for them. Its a sad state of affairs for this team that they are pretty bad, but not bad enough, and are saddle with immovable contracts with virtually no capspace. All hope resides in the prospects to turn this team around.

Schultz and Coburn could easily be traded (IMO for a 3rd and late 1st respectively).

But does Hextall want to do that?

No, because MacDonald is what he is. He's nothing special, yet another depth defenseman, who slots between 4-7 on a good team.

I don't feel he's played particularly well over the past month or so, despite having a good game vs Ottawa. But I don't see a huge drop off in swapping Schenn in for him.

In fact, Berube seems to now be doing what I've wanted him to do for the last year or so, and more equally distribute the scratchings. There's not one guy on this roster that has played well enough, IMO, to be immune from an occasional night off.

I just don't want to see guys benched for 9 or 10 games in a row, either.

I saw the opposite, I though MacDonald was so so against Ottawa, and he was also subpar in the Colorado game. Other then that, MacDonald has played solid hockey. In the last 11 games the Flyers have given up 33 goals I beleive. MacDonald has been on the ice for 5 of those goals, and he was only at fault for two of the goals.
