If Pavs continues to play like a #1 goalie. Big if, tho.

Hutchinson has taken over the number one.

Seems like he's already started to regress. .881 sv% in his last 10 games.

Well, we all know the usual suspects: Yandle, Byfuglien, Phaneuf, Myers, etc.

Maybe add somebody like Methot to that list, since LA loves their big bodies, not that he's worth anything close to 1st + .

- Tomahawk

Yandle and Myers would be much more expensive than just a 1st, and I personally doubt Buffalo want to move him at all. Winnipeg and Toronto are both in the playoff hunt so why would they trade their big guys? Methot has played 2 games all season.

I hope he makes it to UFA. Like Schultz, I'd wager he'd look a lot better on another team.

Hope Mason can deliver another strong performance. I feel like every game against a Metro opponent is a must win from here on out.

Shutdown Ovi line, and we have a chance. Cant let the other teams best player beat you. Have to play disciplined as well; guys like Ovi and Backstrom only need but so many chances on the PP to make an impact in the game.

Our only focus right now is this game. 1 at a time.

I also like the AndyMac scratching. I was at the Ottawa game and he was easily the worst of our defensemen. His gap control is getting better, I will say.

- mochoson

Almost more importantly than controlling the Ovi line, is keeping tight to Ovi on the PP. It utterly shocks me how easily and often he scores from the same position without teams adjusting to stop it. He does the same thing over and over and it seems to go impossibly unnoticed.

They do try to. It opens up other holes though. Leaves the slot open and allows Mike Green to get shots through with traffic pretty easily. Very difficult to defend.

Nothing to argue. We aren't in the best place financially right now. We have at least 2 big contracts that are considered burdens to us. We have a huge over 35 contract who doesn't even play anymore, which gives us a considerable cap obstacle every offseason. What I try to look at is how bright the future is. Within 3 years, nearly all of our burden contracts will be gone. Our highly regarded prospects will be well on their way to becoming effective NHL players. Our GM has displayed, and followed through with, a mindset suggesting good cap management and team building for the future. My only worry for this team's future right now is the coach. I liked him a lot early last season, but now I really don't see him as our coach of the future.

Interestingly, the team mentioned from 2003-04 was very deep but really had no star players, at least none like Giroux and Voracek on the team today. Recchi was the best player, LeClair, Roenick, Primeau and Amonte had their best years at their backs and Gagne was about to break out 2 years in the future. Kim Johnsson was arguably their #1 dman and while not a bad player by any stretch, he's certainly not comparable to the Doughtys and Webers of the world. And their starting goalie was Robert Esche.

Hope? Let me tell you something, my friend. Hope is a dangerous thing. Hope can drive a man insane. It's got no use on the inside. You'd better get used to that idea.

i love(d) that (frank)ing team. my favorite behind the mid 80s teams. i slot the mid-late 90s teams third.

i'm still bitter about 2004.

Yeah no doubt, like I said, it was very deep which made up for the lack of stars.
