It's not his fault they wanted him to pay that.

I think they just expect him to be more then he is. I don't think he is exactly a number one but I do think he is a top pairing guy. If that makes sense.

I think they were kind of forced to pay him that after the trade they made to get him due to the crazy Toronto hockey PR. They had to prove that he was their guy.

I have this weird feeling Hextall and going to pull some slick moves off at the TDL. Nothing to sustantiate it but his being patient is something new. I just have a feeling some playoff team is going to come calling and he s going get some value we didn't think he would have no chance of getting.

But it's his fault he signed that contract for that money. You have to know when you sign an upper $ contract in the league, it's very VERY difficult to play up to it... and the second you don't, you will face pressure and scrutiny for it.

I don't fault him for taking the money, since Toronto wanted to throw it at him... hey, dangle $4mil and $8mil in front of my face and of course I'm choosing the $8mil... but it comes with stipulations.

I agree with you though. They do pressure him way too much (but again, here comes the $ argument). But them pressuring him isn't going to make him do better.. I would take him for the right price, but not $8mil. I still think he's better than what he's been showing in Toronto though.

If Coburn is going to a playoff team I am trying to get more then a 4th line player. If it is LA i am aiming high with a 1st and Kempe/Zykov/McKeown.

I'd like to see the wild make a panic trade in hopes of getting into the playoffs. They have some great F prospects we could use and maybe they take Razor and a D man. And/or Detroit and Dallas are apparently looking for a D man.

None of them are proven at all though, wouldn't you want an nhl ready player?

Pearson and a second?

If LA is a contender, they're probably looking to add to their current roster and deal picks and prospects, not current roster players.

I don't think they'd move Pearson unless it was for an upgrade at the position. They could probably swallow moving Clifford more easily.

Still, I'd like either a first or a second plus prospect for Coburn.

I would take my chances. I think this team is still a little ways from really doing something, maybe 2-3 years, but they have higher skills then clifford. Really if they didn't turn out like projected would they really be any worse? I think the risk is worth it.

Anyone know any names of the college FA that might be available this year?

As far a D ranking in a line up, where wold you place Coburn? 2, 3, 4, 5? Obviously depends on the team but lets say a contender like LA.

1st plus a blue chip prospect could get them somebody much better than Coburn, methinks. I'd definitely take the 1st, or the prospect. Hell, I'd probably accept their 2nd plus somebody like Nick Ebert+.

On LA, he's probably an adequate 3/strong 4.
