He sure did, but he's been far from pretty terrific overall.

He's shown more offensive dynamism and creativity than anyone else. What's your beef with the guy? I feel like the scratching was completely unwarranted.

Maybe it's because I'm straight edge, but I never found Cheech and Chong all that funny.

I'll admit it was pointless. I sort of meant it to be rhetorical.

I'm sure this current injury isn't linked at all to what happened a few weeks ago.

He's got caught out defensively more than a few times, so I didn't mind him being scratched for a couple of games. Not sure why it went on for weeks, though.

Berube liked what he saw from our d without him. You know that 2 week stretch where they allowed only 4 goals per game

I agree he does have offensive ability and creativity to his game. The problem comes in when instead of making smart decisions and using that creativity within the context of team structure and play, he makes risky and ill advised plays, to the detriment of his defensive responsibilities. That is why he was scratched, and deservedly so. I didn't agree necessarily with the amount of time that he sat out, but had no problem with him sitting out. When he plays the right way, he is effective. He has talent and ability, there's no doubt about that, but there's reasons why 3 different coaches now in 3 straight seasons have sat him down.

Coach speak to avoid having to talk specifically on why he wasn't putting Del Zotto back in.

Berube talks about not wanting him to lead the rush but to just initiate the rush, in my opinion he's a different player. Streit will try and lead the rush at times. Why can't he? I think they need to be more open minded to what he can do, and they certainly will need to be if they ever want to get the most out of ghosts skillset in the future

It's very rare for Streit to lead the rush, he outlets the puck and moves up with it. Streit is not without fault and makes the occasional bad decision, as he did on the Malone goal leading to a 2 on 1 in the Carolina game. As an established veteran in the lineup, Streit is going to get more leeway then Del Zotto will. Agree or disagree with that, it's just the way it is.
They don't need to be more open minded to Del Zotto freelancing. The most dangerous defenseman is a defenseman jumping up into holes, coming late. He has the green light to play aggressively within the team structure, but not make ill advised plays, and leave his teammates out to dry.
