say what you want about Carlyle love him or hate him he had a 535% in just under 2 years for a very mediocre team,he is a very good coach but when your main players are phaneuf and Kessel you will never be more then mediocre..there are great number two and number three guys.We need a new GM,should have kept Carlyle and traded some players who needed to go..even for picks and bring up guys from our farm team
Egs..Phaneuf for a first prob mid round from a team like Florida,New York Islanders, and bring up a guy like Percy or Finn .. Florida and New York could use a veteran good D-man like Phaneuf. You could also package up Kessel and bozak + for a McKinnon or Hall and nurse +,both Toronto and Edmonton need a shake up,Colorado could use two veteran stars for one young possible superstar they can afford to have that type of trade (Colorado) just my thoughts nothing more

I hate proposing trades...but the one fit i could see would be a kessel/duchene swap (bigger package but that's the core). They need wingers, we need a centre. Then you'd have to move kadri or bozak of course.

I am starting to be of the mind set that they might move ROR back to a full time C and move Mack to RW permanently. Hes so dynamic on the wing, really sacrifices his speed and shot while handing Center defensive zone duties...plus hes terrible at the draw this year.

Duchene, Landy, MacK are the future, ROR is the only question mark based on his contract situation. If it wasn't a mess right now with a looming extension or trade scenario he would be in that core too

I would understand Avs not wanting to trade Duchene. But a Kessel and Bozak offer is very fair. Kessel is an elite NHL point machine and Bozak is a solid number 2 center signed to a very reasonable contract.
In all honesty, that trade is one that would be tough for Leaf or Av fans to accept.

again 12m going one way 950k going the other. Avs get the heavy contracts and have no cap room. So they would have to sacrifice bigger contracts like Iggy, Landy, ROR, Duchene,

Its just a bad idea bc it wont work and then strips the Avs of any youth and depth and still have no chance to upgrade their D. So for the sake of the team getting better its a terrible terrible trade
