exactly what I want to hear

"My thoughts with this franchise are no different than they were last summer," Hextall said. "We're on the same path, and we're going to continue to go down that path. Is it going to be altered if we continue to

- nastyflyergirl[lose]? Probably, a little bit.

"But we're certainly not going to - if we win 10 games in a row right now - trade younger players for older players to try and get incrementally better [to make the playoffs]. We're staying on the same path."

Well you never know when a light bulb might go off. We saw what happened after Jody Shelley scored 2 goals against the Flyers back in 2010.

Minor nitpick on your blog - Borowiecki is out for Ottawa due to a 40 stitch cut incurred during the pre-game soccer warm-up (seriously!), not from a skate cut.

Thank God Chris Neil is out. Dude has never hit below the neck, but somehow rarely gets called for hits to the head.
- jmatchett383

This coming from a supporter of the Flyers, with all their history of 'clean' play?

Don't dish it out if you can't take it...

Fwiw, Neil has only been suspended for one game his whole career and has never to my knowledge (go on, take 3 hours to look through his game records to prove me wrong...) received an illegal head hit penalty. Such a dirty, dirty player for sure. Who'd he even take out that pissed you off so much?

Amputation is scheduled for 3pm so they're calling him day to day with an LBI

Like I said, he's rarely called for it. And the Flyers are not a clean club. Where did I ever say anything to the contrary?

It's not that he took someone out, it's that he beat up Radim Somik (I believe) because Donald Brashear and Rob Ray had a fight (after the entire Senators team tried to fight Brashear for such a cowardly act). That, plus the fact that his arm and stick always come up when he hits, he rarely leads with a shoulder. And let's not forget this "clean" hit from the 2007 Stanley Cup Finals (since it wasn't a penalty or suspension, it was therefore totally clean, right?)

I for one loved when Chris Neil destroyed Brian Boyle in the 2012 playoffs! In fact after I saw that hit, I started doing this!!!!

I think Neil's best was a late hit on Chris Drury when he was with Buffalo. With today's rules it would have been a 5-gamer. But back then, no penalty was called.

The hit led to the big brawl that saw Ray Emery fight Andrew Peters.
