well this is encouraging "moves will be made toward future"
- nastyflyergirl

Yep. As it should be. Got to be a realist in this situation. Team isn't making playoffs. No sense in worrying about this season

My guess is Chief isn't getting an extension, but he isn't getting poopcanned either.

Do we know when Berube's contract is up? Somehow, I vaguely remember this year being the first of a two year deal.

- johndewar

No, this is year two of a two year deal. He got a two year deal when he took over last season.

Hextall says the season is "on the players" and not Berube. He also said he is very close to point where moves will be made toward future

Yay!! Chief staying!

That's like DeNiro in Midnight Run, telling Moscone that he's gonna dump the Duke in the swamp, then looking over at the Duke and shaking his head 'no'.

True story..
- WarriorHockey21

"Paul, I just signed a big extension. I want to stay on the team."
"Jeff, we want you here. Don't worry, you're a big part of our future."
"Sounds great, thanks, I was worried."
"No problem Jeff. By the way, pack your poop up, go drink yourself stupid for a week at the beach, and hope on the first plane to Columbus."

I believe that Berube has to show that he can get this team turned around and moving in the right direction, to come back for future seasons as head coach.

Honestly the failure lies on all levels.

Management for doing a poor job in roster construction and overvaluing players(if they actually felt the were a playoff team this season), the coach for failing to optimize his admittedly flawed roster and the players, who are indeed underperforming in many cases.

we don't know hextall's poker face yet. if clarke or HOLMGER said this, you know the coach was going to be canned before the day was over.

I remember Homer saying it was a 'multi-year deal', although I doubt it lasts past this season if things continue the way they are.

FWIW, in a series of tweets Carchidi reports the following:

Good: Gostisbehere has begun skating.

Meh: Hextall says he is close to making moves, be it a trade or call up

Meh: When a fan asked Sam what he thinks is up, he replied Trading Coby (Coburn)

- Jsaquella

I want Coburn traded just so Carchidi can stop calling him that. He's not your dog, Sam.

I want Coburn traded so that 2Real and a host of haters can see him on another team and wonder, "Why didn't he play like that when he was here."

Allen played 11 games this year... not sure he's quite on the level of Grossmann.

Jsaq kind of explained it above. It was just a paper move to officially assign him to LHV.
