......Shaw.....and Bickell ?? ??.....who's drunk now? also jk...but u know that...

Why would u want him playing with Bickell? Cuz he needs protection? Id rather have him with 2 very solid 2way players, and preferably someone who has some high end offensive skill and likes to shoot a lot. Thats why i was thinking Hossa might be the ideal linemate. Put him with Bickell and Shaw and i feel like u wouldn't be maximizing TT's potential offensively, not to mention those aren't our best 2way players by any means and that line would probably get exposed in their own end.

- SimpleJack

Nothing to do with protection. Shaw can handle the defensive responsibilities in his own end. Its more that Q use Shaw and Bickell for primarily Ozone starts. So it would give him some shelter.

Any line with TT on it is going to have trouble getting out of the zone. Especially if he is on the wing. Dallas is going to pinch the hell out of his side of the ice. I would.

Sutter was at his deadpan best regarding his decision to pull Quick after going down 3-0.

"I thought if Jonathan only gave up three [goals] and [Jones] only gave up three, then we had to score seven," Sutter said.

Wow the Wild are in trouble and their goaltending seems to be a mess this season...wonder how much the Parise/Suter deals effect them moving forward...

Hopefully the Hawks get back to it tomorrow evening. Hoping for Shawser to take care of that Roussell bum again. I think Elbows mentioned it earlier the guy is just a cheap shot artist.

Just took a look at the preds schedule: no road trip longer than 4 games, feb looks like their toughest month as they play almost every other day mostly at home, only 1 game left with the blues and none with the hawks, and finish the last week with stars 2x, wild and aves.

Hawks have a 7 gme trip coming up: Pitt - break - 6 out west ending with the blues and then home next night vs yotes...what a bullpoop schedule that is

What most interesting to watch is if Lavvy is intent on burning out Rinne. He has played in 33 of their 37 games!

I guess im just hopeful(in my hypothetical lineup scenario that most likely isn't happening anyways) that TT would be able to handle starting in the Dzone as long as he had the right linemates who can help on FOs, win the puck back, and get it out. From what I've seen he has good awareness and an active stick in his own end, and might become even better in those areas playing with someone like Kruger or Hossa. He just needs to learn how to dig in along the boards and man it up every now and then, look out for those pinching Dmen, and learn to hold his own. I want to at least see some honest attempts to push his way in there and not avoid the contact.

You need Carcillo in the line-up tomorrow. Look, Rousell will do something stupid. Crcillo will do something stupid. Carcillo will get a worse penalty than Rousell. Better have Carcillo out than have Toews or Kane out.
- powerenforcer

Jeez, again, the last few times they played the Stars, Roussel was handled just fine without Carcillo, either by Shaw or by beating the Stars where it hurts the most - on the scoreboard.

Give it up, Lady B - he thinks that Carcillo will somehow make Roussel cower and hide and not put any hits on the Hawks.

Lol what? I guess you could argue that, but it'd be a silly argument.

Shaw has been fine. He had a rough start to the season because he was playing higher QOC than he ever had before as 2C. He does fine in the top 6 for short stretches, but I'm not sure he's ready for that (or ever will be idk). After he came back from being out a few games, Shaw has looked really solid and even improved in the faceoff circle. He's not getting as many points because 1) he was off the main PP unit for a while in favor of Versteeg 2) Kane isn't shifting on the 3rd as much as last year (he's shifting on the 4th more).

- L_B_R

Really? Disagree wholeheartedly. Better at the dot, no doubt. His role as an agitator? Never doubted what he brings to this team, but it's certainly not a 180 pound enforcer. If he has to handle this role this team is in trouble. And a lol back at you.

I just hope the Hawks tighten things up tomorrow...Dallas has been fillin' the net lately, and the Hawks first periods have been sketchy of late.

yeah the hwks the last 4 have fallen behind early by 2 and 3 goals. Seven of the last 8 giving up 1st goal. GA = 2.4 during those 8 games....definately need to tighten it up and show up at 1st puck drop...

Preds not going away...they look tough...not looking forward to a 6 or 7 gamer vs those guys...

100% agree... Though as far as Carbomb is concerned... The guy was signed in October after getting cut from his tryout with the rangers... So I doubt many GMs were felt he was all that valuable. On the other hand, I like the guy, and he's surprised me a bit, and in his current form I like him on the 4th line. He's grown up a little.

No one was arguing that Shaw was an enforcer, though. I'm honestly not sure where you got that. We were discussing whether he was playing hockey - the actual sport they're paid to play - well recently, which I said he was. I then said that Shaw has handled Roussel in the past, because he has and he could again. Roussel is a rat, he can be handled by another rat like Shaw (like Shaw handled Marchand in 2013) without sacrificing a spot in the roster for someone with less skill.

I don't even get this debate tbh. Carcillo is a decent enough 4th liner, I don't mind him on the team at all. And I think he plays his ~role fine, I just don't see why it matters against someone like Roussel. He's nothing, really lol. Nordstrom has outplayed Carcillo, he should get the start. It's that simple to me.

At the end of the day, SJ, he is going to have to in order play in the NHL on a winning team.

And this is where we agree. Shaw plays stand up hockey, and does what is necessary for his team. When you have turds running rampant and taking liberties, this shouldn't be Shaws job to handle him, although he did fine last time.. Remember the Bollig beat down last year on him? Like it or not, Carcillo has inherited this role. Does he deserve more or less ice time? Matter of perspective.

However, despite his shortcomings, he handles that role better than Bickell on the third line. Honestly, when he stood up to Wilsom on that cheap shot on Smith, what happened? Did he get hurt or for some strange reason, did Q bench him for this?

It's a matter of playing stand up hockey and being accountable. Nordstrom deserves time on the fourth line, I've been his strongest advocate. Carcillo deserves time on the third line especially in match ups like this one. Shaw shouldn't do it. Bickell won't.

Simple concept. Enjoy your evening..

lol, versteeg sucked last year. Cost us a cup? maybe.
I am happy he turned his game around and recovered from knee surgery nicely. Sorry he got hurt last game. He and kane have some chemistry.

Anyways, it is all about the playoffs. Anyone thinks Richards will be an asset? Carcillo?

- Topshelf2010

Yeah I do.

Versteeg cost us the cup???

If you're gonna gloat about how wrong people were about Versteeg last summer, you should also recognize those of us who correctly stated often, last spring and summer, that we should wait and see how he played after his knee was completely rehabbed and he had a chance to play healthy.
- StLBravesFan

Agreed

My point was the irony of the matter...a summer of blowharding --the same thing happewn in regards to trading hAmmer a few years back here.

I guess if Nordstrom& TT are playing, shaw handles Roussel...

I am wondering if anybody followed the world junior tournament this year. The US team had four Hawk draftees playing.

John Hayden ( 6'3" )

Nick. Schmaltz

Tyler Motte

Anthony Louis

In my opinion Hayden is only one year away from making the Hawk roster. He plays very physical , willing to play in the tough areas in front of net. I just hope Stan is able to sign him after his junior year. Schmaltz played pretty well but is getting pushed aroun a lot. I didn't see much of Motte on the icethe last two games.
Louis might be small but has a lot of heart and is quick(reminds me of a young Krueger. Maybe some of our posters have a different view on these prompts. It's a shame we lost against the Russians. We took some bad penalties in the first that cost us two goals. We outplayed the Russians the last 2 periods but couldn't put the puck in the goal until the last period.

I was able to catch a couple of games, including the elimination to the Russians. Schmaltz has top end skill and if he can get his game under control he might be a future top 6 option. He disappeared a lot, but showed flashes of his talent in the ozone that really stood out to me, especially towards the end of the game against Russia when he completely took over a few shifts.

Hayden though was the biggest bright spot. Loved his game. You described him perfectly. Would be a great add to this team if he pans out.
