I think some are making up excuses for Hextall. This is "the plan". It's best to be patient. How patient does a fan base have to be to get some flat out effort, emotion and heart throughout the entire line up? Berube was quoted early last season of not seeing the point in yelling at his guys because it solved nothing. Where has this approach gotten him? There are guys available out there, just like we should probably make some of ours available. The Penguins made a pretty good move yesterday to better their team. Hextall has made one move to date, Hartnell for Umberger. I couldn't blame him for being a little hesitant to make a move because he's already taken a gamble and lost.
- SuperSchennBros

Hextall has shown his frustration with this team ( NYR game) now it is time to do something. They have to realize this is not a playoff calibre team. If there is a smart hockey trade... Make it. I would rather see him make some deals for picks at this point and not be gun shy considering he was roasted on the RJ deal.

I still like the Umberger trade. I absolutely refuse to believe Hartnell makes this club better in any way what so ever. Minor cap savings, a deal that's a year shorter, and a pick? I'll take it. A very, very minor win, but a win. I hated that Hartnell contract the day it was signed.

We haven't seen any trades because we have no assets. Any players other teams ask about are more valuable on our team than they are as trade assets. Wed be filling current needs while creating new ones in different areas. Hextall wants to build this team from within (the right way), which is why we won't see anyone that can help now brought in for picks or prospects.

We must remain patient. We knew first week of Nov this team was suspect. Continue to compete and retool on the fly.

I don't believe there are no assets to be traded. I just think teams won't be looking for what the Flyers have to offer until the trade deadline.

Actually I believe the Downie/Talbot deal helped spark this team. Some credit could go to the Emery beating of Holby but they both pretty much happened at the same as one another. Downie had instant chemistry with Read and Couturier, still the best I've seen so far. If it was even remotely possible that TJ Oshie was on the market and Matt Read alone could swing that deal, I'd hop on that pretty quick. I think Hextall should be looking. Careful but looking. Problem is, what are we willing to part with of value? I think I'm only reasonably willing to dangling Michael Raffl to see what his market value truly is.
- SuperSchennBros

Didn't Downie get concussed in that Washington game and miss the little winning streak that followed?

IMO they could have got more for Hartnell. But who knows. Umberger has been awful and there is no argument there. We do have assets that could bring back picks 2 or 3rd round picks. There are several teams in the West that need depth D help badly. Winnipeg is one for sure. Anyone on this blueline is moveable.

I think the only player teams will be really interested in is Coburn. If they can dump Grossman, that'd be huge.

I really hope the rumors of the Flyers engaging in talks with Schultz aren't true. I just don't get this. He will be available to us this summer, and if he isn't, oh well there are plenty of other UFA on his level out there.

We should be able to at least get a deal for him like the Mez trade. Possibly a contingent 2nd rounder. Picks are very important for this franchise right now. Our draft last year under Hexy is looking pretty good and our 5th rounder is tearing up the junior tournament. A 3rd rounder is significant value.

Homer built a pretty good team. People forget Homer brought in Voracek, Simmonds, B.Schenn, Coots Pronger and got all those great D propsects we continuously drool over. Homer also built this D which isn't great but what can you expect when your two best Dmen get career ending injuries. There is no way to replace a Chris Pronger, Homer tried to fix the D the best he could. He took a gamble on L.Schenn hoping he'd live up to the hype of his draft year, unfortunately didn't work that way. Despite some of the "bad" moves Homer still was a good GM. The unfair bit is when all these Dmen come up and the Flyers are good again Hextall will get all the credit when Homer drafted these guys.

He better suck it up. I've had worse. (PS. I am not that fat...that is swelling in the pic...Achilles is a female dog. I am almost a year out from surgery and can finally raise up 10 times on my toes on the repaired leg. Have only been able to run for the last two months and that is still a bit wonky from having a weakened calf muscle...really sh!tty injury. Glad G didn't get that business. I wouldn't wish it on anyone...not even James Neal.)

The same qualifications as many first-time NHL GMs: Long tenures in all the different aspects that a GM deals with, plus being an NHL assistant GM and AHL head GM with successful organizations.

It was a total rupture. Happened in a baskeball game on 1/11/2014. Surgery on 1/24/2014. See my edited (after you quoted me) post above for more of my thoughts on the injury. Worst injury I have had. Sh!tty.

Yea, Homer built a stellar team.

The team he built is posed to miss the PO's twice since 2012. Last year when they did make it, they bow out in the first round. And he has a glut of questionable signings and immovable contracts on his resume.

How he missed winning the GM Of The Year award the past two years, I'll never know.

I really need to see Berube go as well, I am thinking the locker room is ugly and toxic.Had this discussion with JSAQ a few weeks back.

Berube trying to use analytics is like a drunk fingerless baboon using a smart phone. The baboon has a better random chance of dialing someone.
Gord Murphy is garbage too. Clean house.

They are not doing poorly enough to get the higher draft choice lottery balls, which is even worse.

Watching the Flyers is like watching a train wreck and you are just waiting for the crash you know is coming. its painful, disturbing and yet you cant stop (well you can stop some times, but you kept getting drawn back)

I tried to get the doc to adjust things so I could dunk but he said he'd probably have to do both.

I have a gnarly scar. Nice (frank)ing souvenir. I got it from a dirty move from an opponent (he stepped on my heel on purpose as I made a move in the paint...I'd taken him to the hole a few times in the game). If I ever see him again he will get the patented Matt Cooke blindside elbow special.

I hear you, the first doc sewed things that should not have been, it reruptured (slow tear) even with a brace and I had the tendon transplant 8 months after the first surgery. There was suturing and staples that went further up. My gait was never normalized and my calf is about half the muscle mass 2 1/2 years later. Didnt walk for about 2 months each time and the second time I was wearing a boot for a couple months to walk and rehab. 4 months not walking in 10......
Had to stay on my back 23 hours a day for 2 weeks after the transplant.
These are the worst.

Yeah, I guess, he certainly had something to do with the Bryz signing and the general direction of the organ-eye-zation.

But Vinny and AMac are on Homer.

Vinnie is probably on Ed Snider as well

Ouch...I forgot to mention the nice blood clot I got (from immobilization) and three months of Lovenox blood thinner shots I had to give myself as a result...but with the double rupture/transplant I think you got me beat in the sucktitude factor. It has been damn hard to get back (I'd say I am 85-90%) from one surgery...two would be extremely frustrating. I hope things eventually normalize man.
