He's playing so well that his line gave up 7 shots against while only generation 3 themselves, gave up a goal to Nate Guenin, and thoroughly lost the territorial battle to Talbot/Cliche/McLeod.

But hey, he scored a goal... he must be killing it, right?

Fourth line against fourth line. Weird.

This is a perfect example of the overreactions in the forum. Is it not reasonable to state that since he has returned, his work ethic and skating has improved to the point where he is actually contributing to the team, and providing some value in his current role? That he has been moving his feet, getting in on the forecheck, and scoring some goals lately? Is it unreasonable to point that out and give him credit for that?
Not to be confused with stating that anything has changed for the future in that the Flyers have to try and move on from Lecavalier if they can do so reasonably, regardless of how he plays the rest of the season.
I think what I stated here is an objective viewpoint which is what should be happening on the forum, instead of sarcastic comments that are now a regular part of the culture on the forum. That's just my take on it.

Not giving Vinny some credit for playing better since his return makes about as much sense as wanting to sit Schultz.

I really want to see Vinny succeed.
- johndewar

As do I, he's just a bad fit here.

Honestly, he's been playing better of late, but I just don't see him being able to sustain that for any length of time.

You complain that people won't give Vinny credit for playing well since his return to the lineup, yet want a guy like Schultz who's been one of the few consistently solid d-men benched because you want "to see our three defense pairs set up the way they were meant to now that there is no excuse of rust." Schultz was the original 7th d-men, but things change after 3 months of hockey. It's not like we have a Timonen/Pronger coming back from injury and need to make room for them (and even then, I can find 2-3 other guys I would take out of the lineup before Schultz).

Well that's good, because Vinny's deal was front-loaded so his real salary moving forward is relatively low. Always though Ottawa was the only viable trade destination for him. We'll happily take Greening AND Gryba, but sorry, not keeping any salary.

- Tomahawk

I'd keep up to 25% of his salary. It's a much better financial move than buying him out.

Need to get Schultz signed now. Teams will be banging down his door in the offseason. He is just hitting his prime and will be the backbone of this defense for years to come. Need to get this done now while we can still get the five year discount
- PhillySportsGuy

Just be glad Homer isn't doing this deal or he'd already be re-signed for 5 years at an AAV of 4 million per year.

There has been tons of discussion in the forum about sitting players that hasn't made much sense. While I may not agree with the opinion to sit Schultz, his opinion is no different then the countless other opinions offered, day after day to sit various players.

Gotta keep him in the line up too. There is no winning without him.

Yes. Schultz is the reason the Flyers are losing.

Just don't understand why this team is always so eager to get things done. Schultz has a track record of a 7th defenseman. He's played well, but there's always risk in him reverting back to 7th dman status. Why not take advantage of his resurgence and trade him at the deadline? If they love him that much, they can sign him this offseason. I just don't see any rush unless he's offering to re-sign at the same number and term.

That's what I would do.

Though keep in mind the talk of re-signing him is coming from Seravalli so I wouldn't take it that seriously.

I'm of the opinion that they should be actively shopping Vinny for the right deal. Eating half his salary for a 5th is not the right deal. He has played well lately, which is great for him and the Flyers but his age and contract aren't making things any better.

As for the arguments, that's the Buzz for ya. Seems like everyone hates this forum and the posters but always comes back to complain about said forum and posters. Stay away if you don't like it. Just my 2 cents.

If he's paid as a 7th defense for another year, 2 at most, I'll be OK with it, but I am still hopeful at least 2 of these guys are moved at the deadline. Hoping, but doubting Macdonald is one of them.

I think he is offering an honest and objective opinion in an attempt to have a legitimate discussion on a player. Versus most of the comments that are sarcastic in nature towards a player being offered.

I hope not. The previous management regime would get tunnel vision on these types of things and feel they needed to get a deal done because letting him walk or trading him would be the end of the world.
