Totally agree.. Super boring team to watch. Arizona game, Nashville, this one. Zero fire.
- Hextall271

Being boring was the biggest crime of the team from "The Season That Shall Not Be Named".

That season didn't get good until Scottie Upshall and Marty Biron came around. We all loved Scottie Upshall splashing the glass after a goal, right?

They just can't be boring.....all I ask, really.

What I am seeing is a pattern of disinterested starts to games and awakening mid way through the third just in time to lose by a goal. Why can't they start a (frank)ing game like they care??? Is that on the coach? Maybe because he can't seem to light a fire even with the scratches.. (except for Vinny).
- Hextall271

I don't have the answer.

Is it accountability? Does the coach being unwilling to scratch certain guys cause those players to feel bulletproof? Is there a confidence issue? Is there alack of hockey sense & creativity on the part of the coaches and players to adapt to what the opposing teams are doing and causing them to be unable to get around a good forecheck? Is there simply a talent issue?

It's not a good roster, and no, there's not a coach out there that makes it much better. But tonight was such a perfect storm of my issues with Berube.

The guys I've been asking/begging/pleading to be scratched for MDZ, Schenn & Colaiacovo had brutal games. His "adjustments" not only weren't effective, but they were actually damaging to the team's chances to win.

I'm not saying he should bury Grossmann, Coburn, MacDonald or anyone, but I'd like to see the benchings be more balanced. I don't want anyone sitting for 8 or 9 straight.

That said, they came out and got beat tonight. They executed poorly and really seemed to lack the ability to channel andy kind of intensity or emotion into the game until late.

As much as I am not a fan of Berube, I still wait to make a coaching move-for the same reasons I advocate not re-signing Schultz right now or any other rash moves...outside of shaking up the snowglobe, there's not really a reason to eliminate any options that are currently available.

If they fired Berube & hired Bylsma, well, there's the coach for the next couple seasons. Regardless of who else was available or interest, you pulled the chute. It closes doors.

Last thing this team needs now is a closed door.

- Jsaquella

We can definitely agree on this.

My issues with Berube go right back to the moment he was highered and the reason is that I felt like we had a Cup contending roster entering last season. Maybe not a winner next to the LA Kings or Chicago Black Hawks but a team that could have gone deeper into the playoffs with the personnel that we had and maybe a more experienced Coach. Last season, Craig Berube was a rookie Coach. You and I disagree on Laviolette being fired, which is fine. However, in terms of firing a Coach three games into a season regardless of the team's status to me is unacceptable. The Flyers do what they do, they got impatient and unexpectedly threw the entire organization off course. Since then I haven't seen Berube do anything to make me believe he's leaps and bounds better then our last Coach. I've seen guys like Ken Hitchcock and Peter Laviolette come in and become a much needed game changer for the organization. Guys like Bill Barber, John Stevens and Craig Berube are guys who simply just show up and stand behind the bench in a suit to me. I don't buy anything Berube says to be honest.

that's as good a guess as any, but typically, quips between us are direct movie references.

good luck with that. there's a 50/50 shot the line is mutated into something we both understand. it's just how it works.

Looking back, that 2008 team that went to the ECF was such a fluke, but even that team was a lot of fun.

That whole season was fun -- for two straight months, it felt like if Jeff Carter even looked at a puck, it was a dangerous scoring chance

Hartnell - Carter - Lupul was as good of a line as the Flyers had in the last 10 years.
