Perron isn't that good of a player. He's a UFA after next season as well. Adding Perron to a contending team isn't a bad move, a rebuilding team adding him doesn't make much sense.

It would've been an awful move for the Flyers to give up a first round pick for Perron. He simply isn't that good.

Perron is absolutely worth a late 1st rounder plus an undrafted 4th liner.

I'm sure there will be a spike to Perron's numbers in Pittsburgh. I bet their plan is to put him on Crosby's line. He can be a good player, I view him as a 50-60 guy. He also plays LW and position the Flyers are severely lacking. If he could have been acquired for some sort of package that included Coburn I wouldn't be opposed to it. Flyers would have been fools to trade their first rounder to Edmonton.

Always the possibility he'd sign at a lower rate for guaranteed 1st pair mins. Looking at cap geek. If we bought out Vinny and Umberger that would give us 11+ mill in cap space after Pronger's LTIR. If we managed to rid ourselves of both without buyout we could have close to 15 Mill. That is also assuming the D is the same as well.
