Between 1.75M and 2M AAV.

Fair enough. Where do you draw the line between extension and deadline deal?

I don't think there is any question that it's a strong possibility that the Flyers will look to address the issues with those players. I honestly believe that one of Schenn or Grossmann won't be back next year. The Flyers are going to try and move Lecavalier if they can get a deal they can live with, regardless of how well he plays the rest of the season. I don't think there is any doubt about that. A buyout of Umberger is also a possibility.
The Flyers have options open to them to gain some cap space if they need it. The question is what to do with it.

You know, it's interesting that you say that -- because I, too, wonder exactly what they'd do with the room

Extend Voracek early? Hold on to it for the Couturier extension? See if anybody is like Chicago or Boston last year, when they needed to discard Leddy and Boychuk, then pounce?

Sounds like the Eagles just Holmgren'd Howie Roseman and gave Chip Kelly personnel power.
- Jsaquella

So why fire Gamble then, ain't he Chip's boy?

I'm guessing an intervention might be needed.

Perhaps he tried to make a move that wasn't well received.

From what I've been seeing/hinted at, somebody might have (frank)ed up on how risky it was to give Gamble the shiv -- might have underestimated Kelly's willingness to hit the door

Depends on when the moves are made. Voracek can't be extended until July 1. The latter scenario is a good idea.

Exactly -- because yeah, you can hire another coach. There's always more coaches.

But it's a big (frank)ing deal if Kelly would've walked, because now you're starting all over again and you don't know who in the hell is gonna replace him and what they'd be thinking about Nick Foles -- and that's the biggest freaking question facing this franchise

At what price (when negotiating an extension with Schultz) would you say that's too rich for my blood and either move on from extending him or look to trade him?

Needed to be done -- can't let a good coach who hasn't worn out his shelf life with the players get away

Nothing for or against Roseman -- drafting and free agency are inexact sciences. If everybody could do it, nobody would ever lose. But since that's the case, you don't just run the risk of discarding 10-win coaches just for the hell of it

Yeah, it makes sense. People were talking like Chip was going to be taking over USC this afternoon

Another ridiculous lopsided trade by the Pens.

Been clammering for the Flyers to acquire Perron... sigh

It would've been an awful move for the Flyers to give up a first round pick for Perron. He simply isn't that good.

With his show-cause over, the Birds probably figured out pretty damn quick that they needed to tread lightly, once they caught wind that something was on fire

From what I read it seemed as though there was a power struggle between Gamble and Roseman. Roseman won as Lurie chose him over Gamble. If the Eagles were going to give full player control to Kelly, and Gamble was Kelly's boy, why wouldn't they keep Gamble to assist Kelly in player personnel matters. Perhaps the real power struggle was between Gamble and Kelly.

From what I read, it's Kelly vs. Roseman, with Gamble taking the bullets for his boy -- and then the Eagles realizing that Kelly could/would walk

I think it became Kelly vs. Roseman after Gamble was fired. Like you said, I think it's possible that Kelly went to Lurie after Roseman won the power struggle with Gamble and said I want complete player control or I walk.
