The lovefest with the most fragile hockey player in the NHL today is beyond me. How about people wait and see if he makes the 20-game plateau this year.

I'm just letting it go... if people want to believe the side a winger plays on doesn't matter, they need to stick to Wayne Gretsky's 3D hockey on the N64.

1 in maybe 10 wingers have the innate ability to play both left and right wing. It's funny that Dupuis and Comeau both can, but certainly not all of them. Beau is a completely different player on the right side compared to the left, which is why I see him fitting into the top six when Downie returns. It wouldn't surprise me to see Kunitz and Beau on a line with Crosby, then have Malkin-Sutter-Downie as the second line tomorrow night.

yea im kind of meh about it. its decent on xbox 1. xbox 360 it is literally the same thing as nhl 14. actually worse in some ways.

i really only play it for HUT and online with my friends so as long as that isnt a total failure, i'm fine. have only gotten the chance to play it a little.

I'm still in love with the idea of a Kunitz-Malkin-Bennett super line. Beau can play on his natural right wing and use his creativity to help Malkin find space and facilitate his scoring and Kunitz can flourish in a roll that requires less offensive responsibility than primary scoring wing. Crosby and Horny have been playing great together. Trade for a serviceable LW for Sid and we are business. I guess Sutter or Comeau can fill in for now. Or does Flats play right when he plays wing? I can't remember.

Honestly never tried the online thing but I like playing out a franchise. JJust sucks u can't even edit a player or jersey numbers...plus the gameplay is ridiculous how the CPU scores every time they get the puxk behind the net with some insanely impossible hhard pass to some guy wide open in the slot. Anyway enough venting haha....

I don't know what to think about kunitz anymore....justout of curiosity, does he have a no trade xclause?

If only Sid had kunitz and dupuis and all cylinders still firing, our roster would be just fine

He does not, but lets slow down. I'm one of Kunitz's criticizers this season, but I still think he is fine top 6 winger and at a sub 4 mil cap hit he is doing just fine. I think we're just disappointed that he's not delivering the kind of numbers that we're use to seeing. The magic of Kunitz is that he would produce like a guy that would command about 6 mil for only about 4 mil, and now he's starting to come down to his pay grade.

Bottom line: Kunitz is doing his job, he's just not going far and beyond anymore. Don't think we can trade him and get something more beneficial in return.

NHL 15 is by far the worst game I've ever played.. I had it preordered and played it for about a month before selling it. Hopefully it's better next year..

Despite missing games, Kunitz is on a 25 goal pace. If he and Crosby (whose play should not be discounted as one of the reasons why Kunitz's numbers are down) start getting some luck here and there, that could become a 30 goal pace in a week.

All the lines I believe are suffering from a lack of cohesion right now. They'll get a line together and it will start clicking, and then injuries hit and it's back to square one with new personnel. And it hasn't all happened at the same time, either. Beginning of the year 14/87/72 were flying, but Malkin's line was kind of meh. Then Crosby's line had the injuries hit, and the Malkin line w/ Comeau picked it up. Now it's just a mess.

Agreed. Another reason numbers are down are due to how many line combos there are. You'll see Sutter with every line, Malkin with Sid etc. Every time a new line hops over the boards it's almost something different every time. Once we get all of our bodies back we are a very good well rounded team. By the time everyone is back we need a top 6 filler

Wing sides are off, but as we know the whole lineup is interchangeable at this point

Trade - Sid - Horn
Kunitz - Geno - Sutter/Comeau
BB - Sutter/Goc - Downie/Comeau
Klink - Adams/Goc - Spaling

If we can get Perron for a D prospect and a 1st or 2nd and another high pick with the prospect that would be ideal. Why give up a conditional 2nd for a rental in Jagr? We can have that young top 6 winger who is under contract for a few more years in place of our first. If our first is going anywhere, I would rather have it for that.

I see your point, but I would think its more likely the other way around. Crosby doesn't have a wrecking ball digging pucks out of the corners for him anymore.

And with Kunitz in general, its not about numbers. I believe he can still score 25 goals. He's on the top line with the best player in the world and on the number 1 powerplay unit, so his numbers are naturally a bit inflated. I'd like to see some data on even strength production out of him.

But more importantly, subjectively he just doesn't look very good anymore, imo.

Unfortunately I agree with this. Like everyone argues a million times on this board, the eye test needs stats to ground it to make it useful, but it goes both ways. You need to actually watch the game to make any heads or tails of stats, and the fact of the matter is that Kunitz is just not the same Kunitz. He's still obviously a top 6 forward but I see him more as a complementary piece to round out a line rather than a main component. Kind of how last year Jussi rounded out the Malkin-Neal line, I think Kunitz would be perfect rounding out a Malkin-Bennett line.

Btw...I watched about 15 mins of the winter classic game. Novelty has worn out for me. Especially with College FB now dominating NY Eve and Day. Will be interesting to see the ratings for that game.

I have a little bit of trouble understanding how the Winter Classic has lost its novelty, but college bowl games between teams with .500 records are somehow interesting? Is the Winter Classic in reality diminishing, or is it just becoming the cool thing to do to dislike it?

The only thing I want to see from Kunitz tonight is him standing in front of the net and not moving. Goalies are getting a clear view of the shooter from the point and there's no one for the rebounds. If Kunitz wants to venture away and be cute with the puck then put him on the 2nd unit

Johnston discussed the fight between Malkin and Adams this morning. Said he will talk with each. So, that's what happened to Adams. #Pens

College football post season and a meaningless game in January that happens to be played outdoors are two completely diffrent things....

Malkin and Adams were in "a battle drill." Things got heated. Punches thrown. Johnston wasn't on the ice. Doesn't seem horrible concerned.

Neither of them are interesting. Worthless bowl games never were interesting, unless it was your team or if you were a draftnik.

The Winter Classic was actually interesting when it was a one-time a year thing. But then the Stadium Series came along.

Is it bad that I find this more comical than anything? I put the chances that they've already made up at about 76%.

Also, Downie's back. (frank) yeah!

When everyone's healthy I think we're pretty set on RW:

Hornqvist
Bennett
Comeau/Downie

Not so much on LW:

Kunitz
...Spaling
Klinkhammer

We should be targetting a top6 LW to play with Sid or Malkin and bump Spaling to the third line where he fits the most and Klinkhammer to the fourth. This would be a sick line:

Kunitz - Crosby - Hornqvist
Trade - Malkin - Bennett
Spalling - Sutter - Comeau/Downie
Klinkhammer - Goc - Downie/Comeau.
