Perhaps they will finally do what their fans have been begging for and draft a stud dman. - Mancalledsting
Why don't we just solve their problems by trading them Brian Strait for a bag of pucks? |

Arizona is going to get the 1st overall awarded to them, even if they finished 26th. If CMcD cant make hockey work in Arizona idk what will.
Also if im a superstar to be, (McDavid, Eichel) I ask my agent to get me stay away from Edmonton.
That being said if Pheonix sells Vermette and Yandle, and wins CMcD sweeps, their rebuild would be over reallllly quick |

I think D Nurse looks like a good d-man for the oil in the next few years....but for sure thats the direction they need to go in... |

You can’t draft an 18 year old savior on D though. Even high first-round D picks need time before they get to the NHL, and while there are some exceptions where some can immediately hang in the NHL, they certainly don’t dominate. I think Edmonton needs to build around the kids it has. They could amass all 30 first-round picks in this draft and they’d still be years away with no one to set an example for and lead those kids. |

They're likely gonna have a top 3 pick. If they have the chance to draft McDavid or Eichel then you have to do it. It sucks to take another forward so high but those guys are legitimately strong talents and you can't pass on that.
If they end up picking third they can take Hanifin and get another nice defensive prospect. |

Great story! Gotta be proud that he has such a great attitude. I think Reinhart and the others also have great outlooks as well. Also Kyle Burroughs has a +28 in WHL and Robbie Russo is leading Lee's alma mater as well. |

He is actually right. The difference between a Zach Parise and a Jeff Tambellini isn't talent. It's desire. Desire to get your nose dirty, get to the net and not hide on the halfboards - Dan Petriw
Strome would possibly have stayed in B'port at last season's end, had JT not been injured & to me I kind of still consider him a rookie. My point about Cappy's remarks were that in camp he singled out Strome(for lack of 2-way play) and even sat him for a game and after a 4-point night he makes those remarks as if to pat himself on the back for helping Ryan be the player he is at present.
Well, newsflash, Strome has had the best +/- on the team all season and is 3rd in points. He's been an assist machine his whole JR career and lead the AHL last season in points per game and again, had the best +/- on that team. Not bad for a kid with 70 or so nhl games under his belt and also, not telltale indicators that hi ISN'T a responsible 2-way center.
While Cappy's remark may be true in it's literal value & in the big spectrum of obviousness, he's saying Strome's success in the NHL relies on his willingness to go to the corners and in front of the net—which to me is asking a highly skilled young player to change his approach to the game—which is where I took exception because I watched Ryan last year and never saw him back away from contact or not go into the corners- heck a few times I yelled at the TV while watching him take a punishing hit. Fact is he's credited with 35 hits on the season. More than JT, KO, Grabo, Bailey & Frans—all "skilled" players.....
The other reason I find it just a dumb remark to make about this young player is because Bailey, Grabovski & Kulimen's scoring numbers aren't anywhere close-to-as-good but we don't hear word-one about them and their games and they make 3-5 times what Ryan makes.
Bottom line...Strome hasn't changed his game...he's just developing & adjusting to the NHL level and it's totally reasonable for him to make a mistake here & there BUT for a team that rarely calls out players deficiencies, it seemed unnecessary, hypocritical and factually incorrect—especially coming off a 4-point game.

Oh, without a doubt. I only meant that they can’t expect to sell players for picks again and draft their way to success next year, even if they did end up picking a future stud d-man. I think they’re better off getting live bodies back in these trades at this stage…players who have been in the trenches and succeeded to guide the young talent. This seems like rebuilding the rebuild, and Oilers fans have been going through this about as long as we have, so I can’t imagine they’re too thrilled. |

For sure you can't, just saying nurse will help, still need to build the defensive depth charts like Garth did a few years back..if they have a top 3 pick I still don't think they use it for the big name forwards, trade the pick for defensive help now and still have a decent pick.... |

That team is MUCH more then a franchise center away from anything.
