What about Maclean or Boucher? No interest with them?
- PLindbergh31

That 1-3-1 is an insult to hockey fans.

Maclean looks too much like Andy Reid, that just creeps me out

Maclean has the glasses and bushy mustache, he's not a thousand pounds.

Boucher seems to have lost his mojo... not sure I want to watch a team that runs the 1-3-1, either.

MacLean, not a fan. Without otherworldly goaltending to bolster his system, it completely falls apart.

He never had that in Ottawa. They have some bald journeyman.

Desperation time for Berube. I'm sure he sees the writing on the wall.

It seems the general consensus with the fans is that Grossman should have sat instead of Schenn..... IDK. I guess I agree. I have to admit I kinda like Schenn and he has played well since returning to the lineup..... Berube logic in full gear.

If Read is on Giroux's line, then I'm hoping they will try:
Read-G-Jake
Schenn-Couturier-Simmonds
Umberger-Laughton-Raffl
VDV-Bellemare-Vinny

But, knowing Berube, he's just flipping Read and Raffl.

I kind of like Raffl's size on the first line, but anything to get Read on track is fine by me.

The biggest issue right now is getting killed in transition and getting hemmed in own end. Grossmann's biggest weakness is with the puck. Schenn is a better outlet passer-not great, but better.

There's not really a "right" choice. I'd just prefer sitting Grossmann or AMac to Schenn.

That failed pinch by L Schenn in the last game is deserving of a night in the press box. It was ridiculously awful and what you can say about Grossman is he rarely makes the galling gaffes that Schenn will on a nightly basis.

Schenn is hot garbage IMO, immovable contract there.

Big Nik makes a lot of mistakes... so far the Flyers goaltenders have just covered for him nicely (to the tune of ~.950 ES SV%) so his GA numbers don't look as bad as Schenn's.

I mean realistically the same could be said about all of the defensemen. They all screw up, every game, all the time. Its just ridiculous.

Luke Schenn out, MDZ in.

Guess the Grossmann immunity challenge is stronger than the team's horrible transition game

- Jsaquella

Good to see Del Zotto back in. Grossmann shouldn't be a candidate to sit out.

I would have sat Grossmann or MacDonald, myself, but at last MDZ is getting a shot.
- Jsaquella

MacDonald is playing too solidly right not to sit.

This post seems to suggest that Berube hasn't change lines around during the season. When in fact he has changed them up frequently. Of course those changes have been labeled mistakes though.

Grossmann makes the occasional bad pass or unnecessary icing. But his coverage in his own end, his reading of plays, is pretty solid. He is rarely out of position. This is simply a case of looking at a stat, and using it to back a narrative. In my view the SV% is high with Grossmann on the ice because he does a strong job of eliminating high percentage scoring chances. The negative is that he isn't strong in moving the puck quickly, either in passing it or skating it out. He is very solid defensively. That's why he has the confidence of his coach.

He does. For a guy that's supposedly good defensively, he's really not that good.

He's a warrior, plays through injury, works his ass off, but he's just not all that great. I doubt theres a huge difference with out him in the line up

Much of this is true. Sure schenn and grossman make mistakes. How often are grossman'd positional? When grossman makes his, he's usually in a position to recover. L schenn often makes really bad positional mistake, with no chance to recover
