Love Jake too, but I'd make that deal all day long.
- Tomahawk

Don't see the yotes moving OEL straight up for Jake let alone OEL plus Domi.

Yeah, it's pretty damned lopsided.

The Flyers would still have the option of trading Coburn in 15/16 when he is an expiring UFA, if he is not re-signed before then. Return is certainly a factor in who to trade, but I have to consider other factors before that. I view Coburn as a player that can be part of the future. None of the young defenseman are a guarantee.
I'd be looking to deal one of Grossmann or Schenn for cap flexibility. I'd lean towards keeping Streit, Coburn, Schultz, and MacDonald.
As always, once a decision has been made to trade a player it comes down to what the deal is. I'd trade any player if I felt it made the team better in the long run.

Let's resign Schultz before the bidding war ensues!

Why? Its not like Coburn is leading a solid blueline or even a solid pair at the present moment. Also, he's past his "prime" already.

He has been just as pedestrian as the rest of the blueline.

- GOA88

Biggest parts to a Coburn move are what kind of return does he net and what are his contract demands. If he's willing to stay for similar cash & 4 years, I'm good keeping him. If he wants $5.5mm-$6.5mm and 5 or 6 years, then I'd look to move him.

If you have a good, legit number one, Coburn's a good guy to have. If you don't, Coburn can't be your number one.

He's also the kind of guy that's going to have some big value in a trade. Big, good skater, solid defensively, can eat a ton of minutes, has another year left at a reasonable cap hit.

Happy New years folks!

The Bjugstad deal is a bargain IMO. That kid has a hell of a shot.

I don't think that paying him 4M X6 years locks the Flyers into the same kind of deal for Schenn and Couts. I think Bjugstad is better then both of them offensively, although maybe they are pretty close in how their teams value them.

would you look to trade him for a first round pick this year from a playoff team, picking 20s-30s in the first round?

I don't think I would trade him for a second round pick unless something else was included in the deal

Luke Schenn out, MDZ in.

Guess the Grossmann immunity challenge is stronger than the team's horrible transition game

Schenn has more points since the start of 2013-14 and Couturier is tied with him. Not sure he's that much better offensively. Definitely a good mix of skill, size and potential.

Yes. I'd take a pick from 20-30 this year. There's good value in this first round.

If he's asking for $5.5mm or more in his next deal, and a team offered three seconds again, I'd probably lean towards taking that in this draft.

You knew after back to back losses Ba-Ba Rooby would spin that wheel.
It's finally sinking in that JVR was traded for a guy who has been supplanted on the depth chart by Nick Schultz.

Neither Schenn or Del Zotto have deserved to be benched this much. Flyers probably just dont want to look bad sitting their big money D-men. I.E. Coburn, Amac.

I would have sat Grossmann or MacDonald, myself, but at last MDZ is getting a shot.

Yeah. You could pretty much sit anyone, and it wouldn't make a big difference unfortunately.

If Berube likes Grossmann so much, why doesn't he just marry him???? Craig and Niklas, sitting in a tree...

The one dman who it wouldn't make sense to sit is Streit. He plays on the top PP unit. Any of the other guys are pretty much interchangeable.

Berube logic: "I like keeping the Grossmann-Streit pair together, ya know, because they have been so damn solid."

I would like to see the pairs as follows.

Del Zotto-Coburn
Schultz-Schenn
Amac-Streit
