I'll blame cappy for lineup decisions and the pk, but if the players decided to half ass it in the third that's all on the players. If they stop working (and it wasn't just one line) then that's entirely on them. Can't bench everyone at once.

I'm no fan of capuano but I won't rip him when the players aren't trying hard enough, that's on them. If the system sucks (like the pk does) then I'll rip the coach for not making adjustments.

Fair Enough I just have a feeling he is here until at least the new owners take over unless they just tank the rest of the way

Pretty much seems about right. When they win its because of the players and when they lose its cappys fault not those same players. I get it. It was cappys fault they lost to the sabres because those same players mailed it in. For the record I'm with you, I've wanted the guy gone a long time ago but most of these comments are hilarious

I agree there are many players who didn't show up against buffalo and that loss has to be on the players as well, not just cappy. But when you see the team performing like that as a coach it is your job to try and light a fire under them either on the bench or in the locker room. The players have the talent but I dont think cappy has the ability to get create a good system or get the most out of his players.

I predict he gets fired at seasons end. Unless somehow they make it to the finals. Or maybe I'm just hoping for that

The Isles sometimes have trouble against the bigger, physical teams like the Caps. If I were Cappy, I would consider resting one of the smaller guys like Nielsen and starting Boulton instead. Isles have plenty of centers to fill in for Nielsen.

I'll go out on a limb and predict that if the Isles win two playoff rounds, but miss the finals, Cappy will still receive a contract extension.

Agreed. The question is what will they do after a 1st round exit

I agree for the most part but where I go astray a little bit with your post is the motivational aspect that a coaching job has. I dont believe hes much of a motivator when the team needs him to be. A lot will say they shouldn't need motivation but ill disagree every time someone does. All teams need a push sometimes. The last game is a good example and no im not blaming Capuano for saturdays loss but im not going to make believe that a coach that wouldnt stand for uninspired play couldnt have possibly got another gear out of them.

If they make it to the playoffs he will probably get one and if they win a round he will DEFINITELY get one.

That point about Lundqvist being drafted in the 7th round makes no sense.

The Rangers also drafted Blackburn and Montoya in the first round. Rather high 1st round, too. WHY ARENT THEY STARS?

I think you're right. I don't like it, but I don't see him going anywhere unless they somehow tank and miss the playoffs.

Lundquist was a 7th rounder, just saying...
Coaching ? Player developement issues?

- nyisles7

That is commonly referred to as a miracle. A 5th round draft pick or lesser has a less than even chance of being a serviceable NHL player, never mind an all-star........never mind the best goalie in the league. If we draft a goalie top 5 in round one, and he turns out to be crap, then the GM is an idiot.....NBC's resident lard ass being a case in point. If we draft a goalie in the 3rd round or worse, it's a total crap shoot, and beyond round 4, you REALLY have to get lucky- especially with goalies, since there are far fewer good ones.

The whole draft as a whole is a crap shoot and especially drafting goalies. Unless the Isles pass on what most think is a sure fire player, I do not say anything about the draft.

I think Snow used middling draft picks to draft goalies who were large, hoping they'd be good, and they were not. Maybe he's over that "6'5" is better" thing....that works great for a defenseman who can skate, but not necessarily a goaltender.

When is that again? Was it two years til they were complete owners?

Matt Carkner was on the ice today at practice. When you hear stuff like that it makes you believe Satan exists.
