Yeah cant keep beating that drum if he keeps playing like he has. Cant hide a goaltender on the third or fourth line when theyre bad you lose the game and he has been BAD. - Cptmjl
Why not? We'll put Chad Johnson on the 4th line with Tavares and Brian Strait. |

That would give you entirely too much ammo. |

Not anymore than any goalie selected in the 5th round should be expected to be a bust. - Cptmjl

Coaching ? Player developement issues? - nyisles7
The goaltender position is the biggest crapshoot in the entire draft. It's nearly impossible to determine with any degree of certainty which 18 year old kid is going to be able to handle both the technical/physical aspects as well as the immense mental pressure, 4-5 years down the line. |

SPOT ON! What I would like to know is, what is said between periods and by who? I have heard in post game reports that Cappy most times says nothing or maybe a sentence or two. That leaves it to the captain. That is the main reason they wear the C. Maybe we need a established veteran who can take charge of the room. I just do not see any killer instinct in this group. As the season goes on, good teams adjust as needed, get hungrier and nastier. This is what is NOT happening at this point and It's very scary. |

Which is why a lot of people thought Mike Milbury was crazy for taking Ricky D. with the first overall pick..... But Mad Mike really showed up his critics.

we need a lot more than a new coach if we have an entire team of professional athletes that rely solely on intermission locker room speeches.
Maybe we should hire the little kid that had the herb brooks speech youtube video. |

That's what I love about this board. When they win its all great as soon as they lose a game cappy this cappy that cappy this and cappy that. My favorites are the post about what's going on behind closed doors like anybody has a facking clue besides the people actually in that room - Vukota

"Most of them revolve around an inability to win face offs"
Bring back Mike Sillinger!
Though it would be nice to have someone on this team who can consistently win face offs. |

They may have been rushed a bit or put in crappy situations but I think That they just didn't develop like we thought or that they plateaued.. I mean poulin was a fifth round pick... I don't think their is anything to look Into. - Dan Petriw
Well there is something to look at here..........the isles have not been able to draft a number 1 goalie since Luongo. Under Garth, they've drafted 4 goalies that i can think of..........none are even back ups. Thats a problem.

If every mistake in the third ended up in the net they only needed one less mistake, one more save or one more goal. BUF playing at home after the Christmas break vs Isles traveling after the Holiday and Poulin playing back to back.
Still think MVP Halak covers up for an average defense. Great season so far but players and management have to be honest in their own assessment and not get inflated heads. |

I've wanted Cappy gone for a long time, the loss just builds upon that want. We could win the next 5 and I'd still want Capppy gone. IMO the team isn't winning because of cappy. - chriscmc
Pretty much seems about right. When they win its because of the players and when they lose its cappys fault not those same players. I get it. It was cappys fault they lost to the sabres because those same players mailed it in. For the record I'm with you, I've wanted the guy gone a long time ago but most of these comments are hilarious |

I'll blame cappy for lineup decisions and the pk, but if the players decided to half ass it in the third that's all on the players. If they stop working (and it wasn't just one line) then that's entirely on them. Can't bench everyone at once.
I'm no fan of capuano but I won't rip him when the players aren't trying hard enough, that's on them. If the system sucks (like the pk does) then I'll rip the coach for not making adjustments.
