100% agree...pressure from who? seriously?

the islanders are tied for 3rd (with a few games in hand) in the eastern conference!!! are people so blinded by their self-serving hatred of garth that they want him gone regardless of the result on the ice?

ill let the results apply the pressure.

- LetsGoIsles

Of course they are!!

you dont have to be sorry about having an opinion; i just figured that after years of garth bashing and saying how his plan sucks, there is no future, the prospects suck and whatever other crazy poop, that FINALLY the topic would be dropped.

im not saying it isnt possible he may or may not be here in 2 years, im just unsure why its even being discussed.

I honestly have not been bashing Garth. I give him a ton of credit with his drafting and holding on to the top prospects. I've gotten on Garth mostly because of Cappy. I guess we should just wait to see how the next two years play out? Maybe we should hold off on talk about Garth's future until the new owners fully take over?

A valid point. Let's put off the statues until we make the playoffs and finally win a playoff round.

If he finally hires a real coach I'll help with the statues.

Leddy and Boychuk were good deals, especially if Boychuk resigns

If the defensman mature like the forwards snow has drafted they will be building statues to Garth, not running him out of town

I already started mine.. its a work in progress.

Yeah but that was two teams that had to dump players due to cap issues. I'm talking about the more customary trades like Nino & Vanek.

i agree that he isnt getting fired in the near future and wont get fired this year unless a massive collapse and miss the playoffs.

having said that, i think its more because it would be ridiculous to fire a coach of a team who is playing as well as the islanders. in this situation i dont subscribe to the "results are results" and will say that isles are winning in spite on cappy; their overall talent is outplaying cappys lack of coaching savviness.

If Sweet Lou can fire a coach a few weeks before the playoffs then Cappy can sure get fired at any time

Would assume Grabner won't be back tonight, since there was no waiver move yesterday and no one appears headed for IR... We'll see later.

Without question... we have to see what Collberg & that #1 pick turn into, he could be awesome it could be used on a bust... but as of right now the chances of either of that are pretty slim, better chances of Poulin winning a Vezina.

Being a GM is not theoretical physics and I think Garth has learned it well, especially managing the cap. I also think the entire management team has become very solid and love the BRI roster all of its young depth.

Both Vanek trades and the Nino trades were less than optimal because of the pressures in the situation. First he was looking to jump start the team so he acquired Vanek and then had to trade him at the deadline because he was unsigned. Nino was a bit bewildering and once again at draft day no one would surrender a high first round pick for him and of course nobody knew what the pressures were to trade him? In the end we gave up a top six forward who may or may not have been the winger for JT but received a fairly young starter in CC who also fit a role which they felt they needed coming out of the PITT series.

Staple reported in Newsday today that Carkner and Grabner were traveling with the team. I am not surprised at Grabner, but Carkner?? He had back surgery and was expected to be out much longer....

I think Carkner just wanted go on a trip with the boys. Almost like one final road trip with the guys before he retires kind of thing. I think he retires when the season is over

I'd rather play Carkner than Strait...for whatever that's worth.

I'd also rather stick my head in a wood chipper than play either.
