Actually Snow & McPhee are close friends. I think this was Snow's move - Vukota
im not saying they arent friends but unless you know for sure thats the reason they have a working relationship, its hard to say that snows friendship is what caused this as opposed to george mcphee previously working for the capitals...
end of the day, it doesnt really matter at all how he got there, i was just throwing out an idea that the previous owners of the capitals might have something to do with employing a previous employee of the capitals. |

Being close friends is good but extending jobs (front office ppl) has to come from ownership...... |

Obviously Snow can't just hire the guy. I read an article a couple of weeks ago saying McPhee was in town to catch up will his good friend Garth Snow. Two weeks later he is working part time for the isles as a scout. Draw the conclusion yourself |

Hopefully this was a Snow move. Hopefully the new owners do not have ideas about McPhee being GM. Still think it's a long shot the new owners keep Garth. Will be pressure to not keep Wang's GM. - ses111
Pressure from whom? The people on hockeybuzz??
The owners don't answer to anyone but themselves. Wang's majority ownership continues for another year. Then he continues on as a minority owner, so he won't be applying that pressure. Ultimately, the new majority owners will keep Garth if they like the job he is doing, or can him if they don't. |

The isles barely had a scouting department or anything, plus in the league, most know each other or formed some type of relationship. So any type of connection can always be linked to something or coincidence of sort.
like u mentioned, McPhee was here recently, plus was the former GM of the newly owners both coincidental for sure but def not just 1way..... |

Have to think the press will be more active with the team in Brooklyn. Unless the team makes a Cup in the next two years, I would bring in a new GM. As new owners, I would not want it to look like Wang is still running the show and we are just going along with the Wang regime. The new owners can do whatever they want of course. |

100% agree...pressure from who? seriously?
the islanders are tied for 3rd (with a few games in hand) in the eastern conference!!! are people so blinded by their self-serving hatred of garth that they want him gone regardless of the result on the ice?
ill let the results apply the pressure. |

It actually wasn't directed at you. I don't consider you one of the worry warts. Plus the last thing I'll be on this board is sensitive - Vukota
good...i didnt want to lose an ally.
but i agree with you about the constant worrying and sky-is-falling mentality here, which is why i havent been around as much as i have previously been. |

I'm not sure anyone is looking to fire Garth now. Talk about being too sensitive. |

I'm sorry I doubted Garth not being GM forever. I'm sorry it's a possibility of the new owners wanting to pick their own GM. It's also possible they keep Garth. Hopefully I covered all the bases. |

Yeah, Ranger fan, Larry Brooks, will find new ways to criticize the Islanders.
Because these guys know more about hockey than Wang did when he bought the Isles, I could see them making management changes faster than Wang. However, it will be their decision based on running a hockey operation, not based on the New York press. I doubt they will be concerned about the appearance that Wang is still running things. If they are, they can always prohibit him and his family from sitting at the table at the next draft. |

If the defensman mature like the forwards snow has drafted they will be building statues to Garth, not running him out of town |

you dont have to be sorry about having an opinion; i just figured that after years of garth bashing and saying how his plan sucks, there is no future, the prospects suck and whatever other crazy poop, that FINALLY the topic would be dropped.
im not saying it isnt possible he may or may not be here in 2 years, im just unsure why its even being discussed. |

If he finally hires a real coach I'll help with the statues. |

A valid point. Let's put off the statues until we make the playoffs and finally win a playoff round. |
