People cant wrap their head around the idea that all 4 forward lines aren't made up of Sydney Crosby's. Part of me understands the frustration of not having star talent. If we did I think it would put a player like Flynn as a role player in better perspective. The other side of me just want to slap stupid people.

It's funny because when I look back on the Ducks team that won the Cup in 07, the line I remember the most was their shut down line of Moen, Pahlsson and Niedermayer. Watching them shut down the offense of Ottawa was pretty magical.

I think we just really lack a legit 1st line. While Ennis/Girgs/Moulson aren't the issue with the team, they need a better option for their 1st line as well. We essentially have a 2nd line, and then 3 lines that fit as either a 3rd or 4th line.
- HonkFortheGoose

They need two or three more guys that have a pair of hands. Our powerplay is brutal. They don't have any hands (aside from Ennis, Gus and maybe Hodgson) that are able to bury their limited chances. They can't create offensively and certainly can't finish.

Very cool. Thanks for coming by TWG. We can always use some insider info for new discussion.

I would be elated if 63/28/26 was our second line. I just don't know what our first line would have to be. I do like the comments from TWG. It seems like the next 6-8 months will be a showing of what TM has been planning.

I have a feeling that Murray really needs for this to work out because of everything going on with his Uncle. I think he's going to try to prove to himself it was worth it to leave, so he has a lot more on the line with this from a personal standpoint than anything.

That dynamic certainly makes it a bit more interesting.

I don't think that's true at all. A lot of us here are realists with varying opinions. We all know we need elite talent on the top line. Crosby would be great but we don't need him. We need a Parise, a Getzlaf, a Perry, a MacKinnon, a Tavares, a Hall, even a Couture. The top line is a huge issue and great teams have maybe not elite but high level talent on the top.

That's quite a view. Almost making it sound like he's trying to succeed because of family issues and not primarily because it's his job and why he was hired.

Not directed at you, but there is a sizable cross section of Sabres fans that can't appreciate a Brian Flynn for what he is. They discard him(and others like him) for not being a franchise savior.

No way. Gailey made Fitz a borderline starting QB

Houston had the defense and running game and Fitz held them back. They benched him

- sbroads24

yeah but between fitz running, throwing the ball downfield, and being able to hit a rb with a flare pass in stride, that alone gives this team 2 more wins IMO

with this o line, you need a qb that is not afraid to run upfield

they had this issue with bledsoe and with orton

coach started the wrong qb to work with the o line they had

I think the bills set a record for fewest rushing yards per game this season, banking on a few draft picks whaley made that did not pan out for the o line

very frustrating as a fan, it's like watching regier post briere/drury

I honestly think the Hall speculation is 99.9% media fueled. I highly doubt he's moved anywhere.

I am of the opinion he quietly asked to be moved.

That wasn't really my intention. I was trying to point out that he has even more at stake now than he did when he took the job. He has openly admitted that if he knew his Uncle was sick, he probably wouldn't have left. So now I think there's a much more personal side to it.

That definitely makes sense. He is definitely feeling some sort of remorse for not being there for his uncle like he could have been. he could be looking at making a quicker turnaround and is finding the pieces needed. Depending on how some of the guys that aren't in the AHL are coming along it could be very interesting.

Great post. They also put up those awful running #'s while being very committed to the run.

Again I will ask.... How is 10 games enough to learn in the NFL for a QB and secondly how do you judge a QB on that small time frame?......

He's played 10 but he has had 32 games to learn.

he is a perfect third liner that can play a handful of games on the second line if needed

the team issues to be a competent team is top 6 up front
top 4 on D
special teams
goaltending

when the team hits on 3 of those issues in a game, it's entertaining
more often then not, the team misses for the past 8 seasons

Its the Bills. They are not a fully competent NFL franchise. They were run for the last 15 years by Ralph, who wasn't fully committed to the on field product. Its going to take a few years to work that out.

I don't think that is it at all. I like a lot of those kinds of guys - Deslauries, Kaletta, Flynn, Larsson, etc. The "problem" is that we have a long list of those guys and a short list of first-line guys.
