In the least surprising news of the day, Harbaugh to Michigan happened.

Lots of talent but no production.
Goaltending has been worse than the Sabres.

Makarov has been fine

the team isn't scoring, special teams are blah and the d has been average at best
9.6% pp on the road
20th overall out of 30 for pk
2-9-1 record on the road
.500 at home
and Lieuwen has stunk up the place

Kyle Orton stopped to grab his wallet around 9:00. Said he was going to a meeting, would talk later. Never came back.

I wonder if he was told they were not bringing him back so he played the retirement card

They are not a road team that's for sure.

Somebody has to take the fall for this teams mistakes and he's the logical choice I guess.

His contract gave him the option of coming back for a second year. Sounds like he opted out. He's always been a weird dude. Could have been anything.

Jeez it was just an opinion.

Sorry. You just happened to be the person that said it. You're not the first, and you won't be the last. There was plenty of criticism of him all offseason and I just don't get it. He plays his role very well. Good 3rd/4th liner. Sound defensively. Perfect for the PK. He's got a ton of speed which helps to create some nice opportunities for him and his linemates.

I think the's the type of guy you need when you're making a deep playoff run. He does need a good amount of talent around him, as he's not going to get you there himself, but he's exactly the type of player that seems to shine in the playoffs for other teams every year.

Just my opinion of course.

Because he is awful.

I'd rather them put in a rookie 2nd rounder. Or sign Sanchez or trade for Cutler

Sums it up homiedclown.
I will tell you all this, goaltending is not a concern at FNC. Ullmark and Makarov are to be joined by a net minder targeted in round 1 or 2 of this coming draft pending any potential moves that is.

Management is quite happy with the 2 goal keepers currently with the club. Don't expect the future Sabres team to rely on heavy net minding as in the past. There is a new sheriff in town, with a new strategy, that of a very strong D combined with elite forward talent to maintain offensive zone pressure on a consistent basis. Think Drury/Briere days type scenario, only with bigger, faster, stronger players, both on and off of the puck.

Foligno, Des, Fasching, Compher, Hurley, Flynn, Baptiste (who the organization just gushes over, what a steal from that draft) and a couple of others. The only thing the organization sees themselves as missing at this time is a true #1 elite centerman and a dynamic 1st line RWer. Look for both of these positions to be addressed in the next 7 months.

That's really all I can disclose at this time.

Fair enough. I used the word "maybe" in my post and after reading your post here you make some very valid points about Flynn. I'll admit I stretched a bit there naming him.

Jake Locker please

not that he is the solution but a lot better option than tuel

if they are not going to bring in a player to make a splash this off season at qb, then they need to bring in a qb with upside and draft a qb with their second rd pick to go into 2015 with EJ

then make it an honest open tryout for all 3 qb's and see what happens

this team would have made the playoffs with a healthy fitz for 16 games IMO

Locker's problem is that he can't stay health. With this offensive line, that's a problem.

They need to go into camp with a competent veteran to either back up Manuel or have Manuel back up.

People cant wrap their head around the idea that all 4 forward lines aren't made up of Sydney Crosby's. Part of me understands the frustration of not having star talent. If we did I think it would put a player like Flynn as a role player in better perspective. The other side of me just want to slap stupid people.

I think we just really lack a legit 1st line. While Ennis/Girgs/Moulson aren't the issue with the team, they need a better option for their 1st line as well. We essentially have a 2nd line, and then 3 lines that fit as either a 3rd or 4th line.

I think everyone agrees with this and that is the point of sucking right now. Moulson and Ennis are second line wingers on a good team. The only wildcard is Girgs. I still think he might be the second coming of Toews.

I would be elated if 63/28/26 was our second line. I just don't know what our first line would have to be. I do like the comments from TWG. It seems like the next 6-8 months will be a showing of what TM has been planning.

No way. Gailey made Fitz a borderline starting QB

Houston had the defense and running game and Fitz held them back. They benched him
