yup. No GM should take that contract on without a crappy long-term contract going back / retained salary.
Bigger picture, the kings are looking like they'll be up against the cap next year. Seems like the longer other teams let this go on, the less leverage the kings will have in a trade. - Tumbleweed

If the Kings really want to rid themselves of richards and his contract they should package richards and their 1st rounder and see if they can get a 7th round pick in return |

Yeah and if the Penguins want to ride themselves of Crosby they should package him with Malkin and see if they can get a 7th. |

Yandle, playing on the second pairing & generally against second tier matchups, on a team whose forwards are expected to play a defense first, has not performed well on the defensive side of the puck. Just 12 months ago he was lower on team USA's depth chart than guys like Orpik, Martin, Faulk, Carlson, Shattenkirk, & Fowler. And this is the guy who Edmonton is going to trade for to come in and provide the top pairing defense they so desperately need?
Actually, that sounds about right. |

I don't know if pointing to anything Team USA did in this past Olympics is something that is going to make your argument stronger. |
