The Leafs will not be adding Richards bloated contract to the list bloated contracts they already have.

The Leafs are in a serious cash crunch this off season and adding that much money simply isn't feasible. Only way it would work would be to send someone like Lupul or Clarkson the other way - money for money - but the Kings aren't normally a team that like to operate that way and truth be told I wouldn't trade Lups for Richards.

I'd love Richards - but not in 2015 at that ridiculous salary. Heck, not even at half the salary.

Why would the Oilers possibly trade Yak for a D man that doesn't even fit their needs?

Because Ek wants hits, thats why.

Please stay away from Richards. Crazy contract for a 3rd line C.

I actually think he would be a great fit for the Flames. Forget the contract. He has won at ALL levels and could be great for the youngsters the flames are bringing up.

Can't say those words anymore in regards to NHL players. M. Richard has always been one of my favourite players to watch, but his production does not warrant his cap hit anymore.

yup. No GM should take that contract on without a crappy long-term contract going back / retained salary.

Bigger picture, the kings are looking like they'll be up against the cap next year. Seems like the longer other teams let this go on, the less leverage the kings will have in a trade.

Ek I love how you mention nothing about the Devil's coaching situation. If that were any other team you would be all over news like that. You're quick to report when the Flyers do so much as a call up but the Devils are the one team you've always seem to turn a blind eye to whenever something happens with them.

I'm not understanding how a minute-eating top-2 Dman that can move the puck brilliantly and play a fairly complete game? Sure he's no defensive stalwart, but in case it isn't obvious, the Oilers need any type of Dman they can get. They aren't in a position to get picky about what style of top-2 Dman they can get plays.

If he's offensive ala Yandle, he'll pair with one of Fayne or Petry (if he stays).

Conversely, if the Dman they acquire is a defensive stalwart (examples who may be available include Methot, Tyutin, maybe Boychuk) would likely get paired with either a youngster (Klefbom, Nurse, or Marincin) or our 4th forward- Schultz in case that wasn't clear.

I'd take him on the Oilers if LA ate like 2-2.5 of his contract for the remainder.

According to that clown Tanner, Arizona does not want talent back as they should go into full on tank mode.

Oh trust me....Yak isn't gonna get in the way of a lottery pick.

I sure hope the leafs don't get Richards and his 4 goals I don't see any upside to a guy who cannot be better than jarred stole. Can you say David Clarkson part 2? Oh and a perennial minus player thats exactly what Toronto needs. I would do the deal if LA was taking Clarkson in return 1 for 1! A third round pick and LA keeps all but a mil of his salary.

Hey Eck I know Mike there is your fav from Philly. But he's never going to be any good to anyone again he's a fourth line minus player and his playoff heroics are far overblown! -6 in last years playoffs. A minus every year with LA. Richards has lost it and is a 1 mil player doomed to be a 4th liner the rest of his days.
