Hey Eck I know Mike there is your fav from Philly. But he's never going to be any good to anyone again he's a fourth line minus player and his playoff heroics are far overblown! -6 in last years playoffs. A minus every year with LA. Richards has lost it and is a 1 mil player doomed to be a 4th liner the rest of his days. - derek138
Why is that? He isn't very old....injuries? Attitude? Out of shape? Line mates? |

whammy. yakubust is, well, yakubust....if you can get round pucks you do it
also, Yandle is a professional Dman that resembles an NHL hockey player....doesnt fit our needs? ok - truthservedcold
Yandle reminds me of a Karlsson Lite; He'd be an upgrade on the blue line for Edmonton, but I think they need a stay-at-home bone snapper back there- like a Pronger Lite. |

Who that's available is like that, though? Edmonton is much better off pursuing any quality Dmen they can and simultaneously hoping that one of Nurse or Klefbom becomes that Pronger-lite. They've got enough supporting Dmen that if they can just get one top-2 Dman, their D won't look nearly as bad.
I think the trickle down effect would do wonders for the team's D corps! |

Clarkson for Richards isn't even fair. LA would have to eat salary and toss in a pick. |

Yandle, Kulda, Samuelson for Yakupov and Marincin... - oilers2k10
Hmm
Samuelson and Marincin is fairly equal. If I had to tip one way I'd say Sammy
So yandle + for Yaks come on man.
Maybe a yr ago.
I'd say Yaks + for yandle

I sure hope the leafs don't get Richards and his 4 goals I don't see any upside to a guy who cannot be better than jarred stole. Can you say David Clarkson part 2? Oh and a perennial minus player thats exactly what Toronto needs. I would do the deal if LA was taking Clarkson in return 1 for 1! A third round pick and LA keeps all but a mil of his salary. - derek138
4th liner? There isn't one team in the NHL he wouldn't be a 3rd liner on. Not one. And he'd be a 2nd liner on a fair few |

Yandle has the same # of points as Karlsson and better +/- rating
but yeah Yandle coming to the oilers... makes me think. OEL would be ideal ofcourse and would make more sense to me (1st overall pick for a 6th overall) but ofcourse Yak's value isn't what it should be. But you get 2 seasons of Yandle until he turns 30; unlikely contenders during that time |

Any team that makes Richards, a second line centre is going to miss the playoffs!
Who really sees Mike Richards really being worth 5.75/yr
Hes lost something and won't ever get it back. He can't beat out stole he's had every opportunity to play with the Kopitars, Wiilams, and carter who he had his success with in Philly. -6 in last years playoffs and his stats just keep sliding. |

Yandle is underrated. I would be surprised if the Oilers hadn't called every team to ask about their top Dmen at this point. Still Yandle would be a legit 1-2 guys for the Oilers. They already have tons of big guys that can play defensively coming up through the system and Petry can play a shutdown role for now. As for Nail, he would be a great addition to any team. The guy has tons of skill and I would hate to see him go. With that said, Eakins may have soured him on Edmonton and he might need that fresh start.
In the end though, the Oil have been kicking Arizona's tires about OEL and Yandle for a while. The trade will never get done and if it does it will be a last ditch effort for MacT to try to save his job. |

Maybe Richards is done or maybe he just needs a new team. Regardless, it is too early to tell and there are a few teams with worth second line centers than him. I think after this summer, any top 6 player that is locked up long term for under 6 mil will be considered a steal. Cap is going up and top 6 guys are in demand by some teams with money. |

You guys are looking at stats and you haven't been watching him play....he's been great, he just is on a team that has very good centers so he doesn't get a ton of minutes. I know he would flourish with any team that gives him the minutes and the confidence in him. Like someone said earlier, his contract will be a bargain (potentially) in a couple seasons. He would work himself into to being a top two center on the flames or the Leafs. Not to worry though because DL knows we will need him for another cup. |

(frank) id take him. |

The Leafs will not be adding Richards bloated contract to the list bloated contracts they already have.
The Leafs are in a serious cash crunch this off season and adding that much money simply isn't feasible. Only way it would work would be to send someone like Lupul or Clarkson the other way - money for money - but the Kings aren't normally a team that like to operate that way and truth be told I wouldn't trade Lups for Richards.
I'd love Richards - but not in 2015 at that ridiculous salary. Heck, not even at half the salary. - Canadian kid
agreed. not a chance the leafs swap lupul for richards unless a pretty nuce piece was also coming back.
Richards for Clarkson makes sense though. similar production, salary, and term.
Clarkson: 9,3,12-35 (5.25 mil)
Richards: 4,8,12-36 (5.75 mil)
A change of scenery could help both of these former top 6 forwards.

that's debatable. leafs are the highest scoring team in the league. not sure if a guy putting up a 27 point pace would be able to fill a top 6 role. I'd still gamble on him as a 3rd line center though, but we would have to move out a bad contract to make it work (Clarkson) |

Yeah I'd say kings add in a lupul Richards swap but leafs add is a clarkson deal |
