And some think he can jump to NHL next year, while he is a 7Dman on a Under 20 junior team?
- 3flyerkids

On a team of 20-year-old All Stars, yes, he's a 7th. That doesn't mean he's an NHL 7th. If he played for any other team, he'd be a 3-4 at the least.

U20 international games are reffed very tightly which takes away from one of Morin's biggest strengths, his physicality. He should still be playing ahead of Heatherington.

Whether Morin makes the NHL next year will depend on how he plays in camp.

I think in the end he will be ahead of Heatherington, they haven't even settled on who their goalie will be for the rest of the event so this could and should change.

Heatherington, Morissey, and Bowey all drafted after Morin, why are they ahead of him on the depth chart?

Duclair on Team Canada top line. Flyers drafted Rinaldo 2.0 ahead of him.

Can't make this stuff up.

I'd be willing to bet had Morin not missed anytime with the injury he'd be ahead of at least Heatherington.

And the Rinaldo 2.0 will always make me mad.

Yeah, I don't get it either. It's not like any of the top 6 have been so dominant they can't miss a game or 2 to get MDZ back in the lineup.
- BiggE

Seems like there is more to it because I thought for the most part, he had played very well. Now that the team is playing better, I doubt we see him back in though.

I didn't see him on the ice much for last night's game and that surprised me. I wonder if he'll be a 7th the whole tourney. I've read some articles here in Canada that have really presented him in a glowing light.

Scott Stevens and Adam Oates named coaches for NJ. I hope Berube challenges that (frank)er to a fight!! Now another reason to hate the Devils, as I really thought they mishandled cutting ties with Brodeur as well.

Stevens to coach the D, Oates the forwards. Lamoriello on bench as head coach for remainder of season.

flyers are terrible at drafting. whether it's trading too many picks, long shots or drafting the wrong players. hopefully this will change but they are married to drafting certain types of players "of late".....
i read this somewhere and i think it rings true "when you have paul holmgren, ron hextall, dave brown, craig berube as your brain trust what else would you expect?"

Yup,
Gagne, Justin Williams, Joni Pitkanen, Janne Niinimaa, Jeff Carter, Mike Richards, Claude Giroux, Sean Couturier, Scott Laughton, Taylor Leier, Sam Morin, Ghost, Robert Hagg, Stolarz and Travis Sanheim were just terrible picks.

If you want to complain about the many 2nd rounders they traded, I'm with ya. When it comes to actual picks, I thinks they've done alright. Every team makes bad picks, face it, after the 2nd round and even sometimes by halfway through the 2nd round, it's an utter crapshoot. Unlike the NFL where you are mostly drafting guys with 4 years of college experience and are 22 or 23 years old, you are drafting 18 year old children, either coming off of one major junior season, prep school or Euro junior leagues.

Have to separate fact from fiction/rumor. From an on-ice standpoint, MDZ probably earned a game or two upstairs after his backslide from first game against NYR. But he'd played so well before that, it seems odd that he'd be a healthy scratch this long.
- bmeltzer

He got Berube'd. Bigger, grittier guys who are supposedly better in their own end get more rope than offensive guys that don't bang

Yup, it's the world according to Berube:

Big, bruisers and energy players get chance after chance no matter how much they (frank) up while smaller, skilled players are banished forever if they make but one mistake.
