Anyone else read about us being interested in Vermette? Seems like the last guy we would need to bring in unless we are sending Sutter out. - dbell646
He has played wing in the past. Not my first choice. |

Dan Girardi isn't why the Rangers couldn't re-sign Stralman. Dan Boyle and Tanner Glass are. Nice job. |

The cost for Vermette three years ago was Curtis McIlhinney, a 2nd, and a 3rd.
It would cost maybe a 4th and a marginal prospect at this point.
Allows Sutter and Geno to stay together while getting a skilled 3rd line center to fill the void left by Sutter.
And it gives you four above average faceoff guys - the Penguins have struggled to win faceoffs against certain teams in the playoffs lately. |

A re-torn labrum will never heal on its own, so it will eventually need surgery, however one can strengthen the joint and all the muscles around the shoulder so that it doesnt hinder ones playing ability...the main issue is that it takes time to rebuild that muscle and even once that done, it just takes one hit or one guy stronger than you or one unlucky play to reinjure, then youre down for the count again for x amount of time...
like I mentioned earlier, I got to the point where I would dislocate my shoulder playing, it would go back in within say 5-10 minutes and I could finish the game, however at that point you barely have any strength to do anything with that arm, once you dislocate it or seperate it once, it just keeps getting easier...so does maata heal and try to rebuild the strength and push the surgery back to the off season with a strong chance of reinjuring it, or does he do the surgery now and recover and heal for next season? its a 4-6 month long rehab... |

Hopefully we get Ehrhoff and Martin back soon. I liked what I saw from Harrington and Pouliot, but I don't think they are ready. Hopefully they were able to identify some areas of their game that need some improvement while they were here so they can go down and work on those areas and come back stronger next time. Dumoulin I think is fine as a bottom pairing guy, so if we can get Letang-Martin, Ehrhoff-Despres, and Dumoulin-Scuderi until Bortuzzo comes back, that would be nice. Also hopefully Downie and Sutter are back on Saturday, that would be a big help. We will be without Comeau and Maatta for a while it looks like. Sounds like they are holding out hope that Maatta can rehab his shoulder instead of surgery because if he needs surgery I think he will be done for the year. Not sure how long Comeau's broken wrist will take. |

I agree. Pouliot and Harrington need a little more work, they flashed at times but showed so holes at others. Maybe a game or two more of each and it would be great to get 7 and 10 back. Dumoulin is good for bottom pairing but will get sent back down I'm guessing when Bortz is good to go |

Anybody could be playing on our 3rd line right now, but once healthy, he would be a scratch, bud. |

We have an AHL defenseman playing our fourth line center, I'd hope he could play on our third line, although he would probably still be on the 4th line |

I think Vermette would get a good look as a second line center with Malkin at wing. Would allow Sutter back on third line with Downie and Bennett (at least for the 2-3 games in a row that Bennett would be healthy for)

I think Harrington has looked solid. Dumoulin hasn't really done anything to help or hurt his stock.
Pouliot has looked pretty good for being thrown into the fire and playing with Scuderi. But when Martin & Ehrhoff are back, he should go down for a while. |

I'd rather Geno at center, that is where he is best. Getting a guy like Tlusty probably won't cost much more than Vermette. He is not healthy right now and hasn't had great numbers. I bet he could be had at the same price. |
