I was going to come on here and give my usual smart arse reply but not this evening.

RIP Mr. Reif and many prayers & thoughts to you and your family. Such a horrible story.

So? that Kane guy? Still think Kessel is better?
- Elbows15

Kane is obviously not worth his upcoming contract and should be a 100 pt scorer each and every year.

Not only sad news for the Blackhawks organization, but the Wolves organization too, where he spent a season with the Wolves. Prayers to his family.

Niedereitter for Raanta and we got a trade to announce. Anti becomes the next Kiprusoff and El Nino the next 40+ goal man. Great for both teams!

Kane was better than Kessel tonight but they both have their moments of brilliance. The both have 36 points but Kessel is a better goal scorer and Kane as good a playmaker as there is, maybe Giroux, Voracek, Getzlaf may have something to say about that.

I fail to see where Hawk fans are so critical of Raanta and want Darling to be the next great one but how can you knock a .945 save percentage, 5 straight wins and 2 shutouts and 6 wins in 8 appearance. I would say you are a little hard on this lad.

I'm not...I think Raanta is fine. It's also nice that Darling appears legit. The Hawks appear truly deep with goal tenders for the first time in years.

It's a good "problem" to have.

What if he's merely a ppg player who contributes to another championship or two?

Kane is worth his new contract as far as what he brings to the team, the game and revenue for his organization. You don't need to be an 100 point regular season player to be a Conn Smythe worthy playoff player the way he is every year.

You pay your studs that bring you cups.

Didn't get to see the game, had a Christmas party (too much red liquid), but heard Q on NHL network this morning, did Versteeg play Center last night?

Said something about a 1 game tryout, know I'm a little foggy but sounded odd. Did Richards play?

Oh, and I guess I'll have to let up on Rundblad for a little bit

Totally agree. He's never been a 100 pt player I believe and that hasn't stopped him and El Capitan from winning two Cups. Couldn't care less if he ever cracks 100 pts if they are still competing for/winning Cups.

Steeg did play center and scored at the end of the first with .3 left on the clock. Richards was out with a UBI and Rundblad played well last night.

Kane is a better hockey player than Kessel. I never said Kessel was not a guy who can put up points. He does. Kane has grown into a player who plays both sides of the ice.

Raanta reminds Hawk fans too much of Huet. His technique has improved a lot this season though. Still is bad on breakaways and shuutouts though.
