It is what it is, but I think we can safely say that coaching was not the issue now right?

Sure small sample size and all that but 3 games 3 losses, 2 points. 1 2 goal lead lost in the 3rd.

It, to me, is the make up of the team. Not the systems instilled, not coaching choices. The players.

Now I don't have an issue with the job MacT has done. He took the job over after a terrible job by his predecessor. He has been behind the 8ball trying to get better incrementally.

He tried to bring in Dmen of NHL quality to help...the goaltending goes down the toilet.

He tried to get bigger NHL bodies, but just couldn't get a center.

Now with all the losing there is no way he gets a fair trade from anyone.

the team needs a change...but wait for the off season at this point for anything major.

I don't come here to win a popularity contest like some people - I come here to talk hockey. Sometimes I toss silly ideas around and sometimes I'm dead serious. IF we finish 30th there's a 20% chance we get the 1st pick. That's why I really hope they don't finish 2nd (and someone out of the basement) and the top 2 picks go elsewhere

Oil Horse - good points. Honestly the way I'm starting to see this team is that when you have such incredible potential and it's not diverse throughout different positions you're going to lose games you could of won. The difference is if the Oilers were blessed on defense and between the pipes (although goaltending actually at times is great) then it'd be interesting to see what the team's record would be.

I could certainly see them making the playoffs if they had a hot goalie, 1 top line Dman, and the right coaching: meaning the roster isn't actually bad. On defense, yes. When your top D-man is 73rd in average ice time per game that says you are weak on the back end. You might have some "depth" but you need a horse back there and I'm sure most oilers fans here know that
