ok i dont female dog about yhe reffs... but the flyers better run that mother(frank)er thorburn
- JoeRussomanno

They wont.

Its kind of disturbing that from a coach who was a fighter, his team is instructed to skate away and play like some robotic machine.

They haven't stood up for themselves or the skilled boys for a long time. Going to last season. (frank) the penalty call, push back or mother (frank)ing god forbid. INITIATE.

Basically, if a player goes out and the good he does is simply negate the other team's players is it really that productive?

That's a borderline definition of a warm body. If you shut down the other team's best, you should be able to impose your will physically or get some chances yourself. Not just skate off and be happy they didn't put one behind your goalkeep.

- flyer_nutter

i think i disagree with this.

no, it doesnt mean that guy is going to be your top center or franchise guy. but the situation you described has a good bit of value to it. if i can deploy that and negate your top line, that leaves me with my top lines to score against your lesser lines. the asset you described, over a season, increases your chances of productivity and a greater net influx of goals, even if not really potting any themselves.

God forbid a fight after a guy gets creamed. Or engaging after the whistle.

Hartnell would help but either way. They are instructed to play this way. Skate away, play whistle to whistle blah blah.

Berube is nearing John Stevens levels for me. Who would have thought.

Now that everyone is happy Rinaldo is out, exactly who on this team should go after a legit fighter like THorburn?

Simmonds? L. Schenn?

Can't have it both ways..People cry about Rinaldo as if he is one of the 10 major problems on this team but he is the only player that always hits and always initiates the play.

Simmonds, Luke, Grossmann, Schultz.

They play this way because they are instructed to. They are by no means built as a gritty club but this is on another level. Nobody is saying to after Thorburn, but how many times have we seen Giroux creamed or a goalie run. The boys in orange and black are scared poop of taking a penalty. Make no mistake, that's coaching. MJL lock.

There are fourth line players or lines in the league you can trust for a shift or two against the other team's best.

I have day dreams about this. Maybe its true.

Every game he plays Rinaldo runs or throws a hit just about.
If the opportunity isn't there for him to a star player is that his fault?
Imagine the outcry here if he took a penalty trying to run Stamkos or someone because he is a star on the other team.

Nothing wrong with sitting one of PEB, VDV, VL or Corpse and bringing up Rosehill and saying "next player on our team that gets run do something"..Unless we all enjoy watching our own version of The Walking Dead with those 4. Would have much rather kept Hall then those 4.

The place we agree is I think the team is so concerned with not taking a bad penalty, coaching or their PK sucks or whatever, that they are gun shy and wont.

Rinaldo doesn't have a chance to hit a star player because he is a piece of poop hockey player that would be exposed against top lines. He has to be hidden, therefore who he can hit is selective.
