If it makes anyone feel any better, Bryz got lit up pretty good last night by Ottawa
- Trainfellow

That guy should convince Hamburglar, and Vinny to just retire and buy a ranch out in Area 51 and they will never be heard from again

If Mase is hurt we should trade for Bryz. Tank upgrade.

The Leafs are a bad matchup for the Flyers, particularly when Emery is in net. JVR is a guarantee for at least 1 tonight.

If Couturier's line is head to head with their top line, that means the Zombie will be skating up and down trying to catch Kessel

not sure what mdz did to get in the doghouse, but he sure seems stuck there. what does that say about him if he can't crack this poop show of d corps? is it because they need a more physical stay at home type in the mix? is it because the coach is an idiot? is it because he really sucks? what's the deal here?
- hammarby31

He had a stretch of bad games but I really thought overall he played well. annoys me he is out

I don't like our chances with Emery in net if the Flyers decide to trade chances. Could be a long night if they let the gaps get too wide.

I'm not feeling particularly good about this game. Has the makings of a beatdown.

- PhillySportsGuy

This road trip is going to be ugly and will likely to put to rest any remote thought of making the playoffs.

This doesn't give me any joy whatsoever. I've followed this team and lived and died with each game since the mid 70s, but I have to call it like I see it. And, sadly, what I see is a bad team, that will now have to rely on a goalie with mobility issues on top of all of their other weaknesses.

While having a high pick in this draft is nice, it will still be a long painful rest of the season. I just hope they can make some moves to land more picks in the 1st 3 rounds of the upcoming draft and get the rebuild moving as quickly as possible.

this team pays long stretches like they have no heart and the have a knucklehead for a coach. Its frustrating to watch the same stupid mistakes and the same plays over again and again and again.

I'm fairly confident that the rest of the league has caught onto the fact that the flyers have the same PP breakout play ( up the wing slingshot to Giroux in the middle) and then the same setup ( Giroux at the left circle, pass to someone in the slot)

luke Schenn is out of position more often than in. umberger skates slower than a senior citizen and lecavalier is simply invisible except when they give up a goal against.

Bill is it me or what " lecavalier just looks lost? and Umberger looks like a ham sandwich on soggy white bread.

They need to keep an eye out for passes across the crease and watch the back door, especially on the PK. Everyone knows that Emery has trouble going post-to-post, and we've seen teams like the Rangers exploit it in the past.
- tangent_man

And there is the problem. I don't think this team has the ability to limit passes across the crease. They are so damn soft in their own zone that it's painful to watch.

That's why I can't bring myself to pay 150.00 to go and watch tonight. Will stay home and drink sorrows away

I don't think they can limit them, either. I was speaking to their awareness (which isn't always that great) and knowing where the opponent is on the ice. As Dorny was fond of saying, "you gotta keep your head on a swivel". They can't all be staring at the puck all the time.

Hate to admit it, but I am with you. This pick and what we could possibly get for some of our guys could be huge. I don't even really get pissed off now. One thing I ask.. Please just beat the FN Leafs!!!!

It really is a mess. Bad enough that play poor positional hockey in their own zone and often leave one or even 2 opposing players wide open. But when you add to that their inability to win any board battles and an inability to clear the front porch, well, it's just ugly.

Now subtract the starting goalie who, on many nights, was singlehandedly keeping them in games........

I have a hard time rooting for the Flyers to lose. This team has been challenging that this season. They are just tough to watch. I used to always adjust my schedule to watch games. The past month or so I have just not cared that much. They are not physical, the don't skate particularly well, and they don't seem to care. On top of that I am not sure Berube is the right coach for them. All of this and they have one of the highest payrolls. If it weren't for Voracek, Giroux, and Mason (ouch) there would be no reason to watch this mess. I almost wish they'd bring up Rosehill just to see someone give a crap and at least stage a fight.

I don't think that it is a lack of caring or heart. Rather it's a simple lack of talent (especially on D) along with size and strength (especially up front).

And some very questionable lineup and coaching decisions:

Their only Dman who has both skill AND speed is routinely scratched.

They continue to play RJ Umberger in their top nine even though anyone with eyes can see that he has no business playing there.

If you are going to play VLC, putting him on a line with Rinaldo is just asinine

However, even Scotty Bowman would not be able to make this a good team. They just don't have the horses. Without a legit #1 and #2 dman and without a legit 2nd line scoring center they just aren't going to able to get it done. Their lack of size and strength on the wings also really limits their ability to play dump and chase successfully but, other than Giroux and Voracek, they don't have the players with skill to succeed any other way.

Their D is just a mess. Yes, all 8 are legit NHL players, but none are top pair guys and way too many are just so one dimensional. Streit is a nice PP QB, but other than that he is a liability. Grossmann can be effective on the PK, but other than that he brings nothing to the lineup. Schenn, Schultz and CC are just generic 3rd pair guys. MDZ apparently keeps peeing in Berube's coffee so he can't even get a shot and AMac is what he is, an average #4 dman. Coburn is at least a 2/3, but he is being asked to play WAY over his head as the team's #1 guy and, no surprise whatsoever, he's failing miserably at it.

And, as the cherry on top of the poop sundae, our starting goalie is now injured.
