You should look at what other, lesser dmen have gone for in the past.
- Feanor

I just don't see a team giving up a 3rd round pick for a rental that's on the wrong side of thirty. It's possible but I don't see it being likely.

You know this place has gone a bit nutty when the topic of the day is somehow trading our best player this season, and second best player overall.

The team has been bad all season long, with and without Coburn in the lineup.

- Feanor

Yea I dont get that. No way you trade Giroux or Voracek......

Even worse with Coby.... Numbers dont lie.

Definitely playing like poop.

On a positive note, AMac actually looked dangerous in OT last night. When's the last time that happened?

You think the Flyers are going to finish that high?
- MBFlyerfan

The only teams I see having a shot a finishing below us are:

For sure- Carolina and Edmonton

Maybe- Buffalo and New Jersey

slim chance- Arizona, Colorado and maybe Ottawa

All in all I think they finish somewhere between 26th and 28th and end up picking between 3rd and 6th unless the Hockey Gods finally smile upon us and bless the ping pong balls.

What if the Flyers won the lottery? Would you move him then?

Personally, if the Flyers could get Seth Jones ++ I would trade him regardless. I don't think this team is going to be good for a couple seasons and the reasons people are giving to trade Voracek are even truer for Giroux.

Imagine a righty lefty top pair of Jones morin with Sanheim leading the 2nd pair.

- psuhockey

If they win the lottery, I'd keep Voracek. McDavid will probably step right in and be one of the best forwards on the team. He may very well but up 80+ points. If not, it won't take long until he's a top 10 player in the NHL. That would push this quasi-rebuild along much faster.

I agree. I think the Flyers have always been afraid of losing talent to FA. You can't be afraid of be unwilling to budge on certain deals. In a cap world, you need to be frugal
- PhillySportsGuy

It's really hard to say, we haven't seen Hextall negotiate any big deals yet. Homer would have given him the moon on a silver platter.

That's risky too. I might look to move him before the season if they can't come to an agreement.
- PhillySportsGuy

He's one of the few key guys without a contract clause, so he'd be a prime target at next year's trade deadline if it came down to it. Might just get a better return at that point, too.

Of course, if Hexy can sell him on his long-term plan, we might be surprised at what he'd be willing to sign for. You never know.

I think they will eventually play better and move past us. too much talent to be as bad as they are.

Was that him testing the waters of a possible date with Gudbranson? Or was he like 'Hey, want to see what my dog did last night?'

I think this rebuild lasts as long as it takes 3 or 4 of the D prospects to develop

Their defense is a mess much like the Flyers. Them and Dallas are a great example that in the modern NHL defensemen are way more important than forward talent.

Wonder if his jersey tasted like chicken? Actually Gudbrandson was just relieved that he didn't bite him in the ass.

Meszaros was under 30 and had upside still. Schultz is playing above his level of the past few seasons. Like I said, I think it's possible he could net them a third but there will be cheaper options out there and some teams may rather have Schenn or Grossmann for a 4th or 5th then Schultz for a 3rd.

The problem I personally have with that theory, is it's a theory. G and Voracek are proven... G has been a top 5 forward year in and year out, imo.. and Voracek is now earning his spot up there. Two of the best forwards in the league right now, let alone on the Flyers. But then you trade them for two prospective good players... ones who are supposed to be the best, but may not turn out to be so... It's always a risk when young players are being selected as the future of the NHL.. some make it, some don't. For that reason, I wouldn't trade both of them... MAYBE one of them... but not both..
