They need to do something! The pieces they require are big, and they arent going to get anything of value without giving up something of value in return.

Most of the pieces that are required are in the system developing. The one most questionable is a true starting goalie.
Nurse, Klef Marty...all very promising Dmen...Marty was great last year Klef has been having good stints...NUrse will get feet wet next year. Add them to Ference, Fayne, Petry and that is a Defensive corp going in the right direction
Drai and Yakimov are two well developing centers...
Life as an Oiler fan sucks...it is all right there but not coming when thought it would.

You're hugely underestimating Rielly's value..
You know.. Burke was probably not that far off when he said he would have picked Rielly over Yakupov, Galchenyuk, Murray and Reinhart anyways.. 
Galchenyuk still is clearly the better pick, but the other 3 I'm not so sure about.. |

Which means it is not an overpayment for Toronto, more of a steal.
Also, Lupul was brutal in Edmonton, I highly doubt they bring him back.
